yeah, what i said ... IMHO ... safe dep boxes are worthless.
You remember that not long ago, Treas Sec Paulson got all the CEO’s of the major banks in a room, and even the solvent banks were made to sign papers that they did not want to sign, and to take bail out funds that they did not want. So do you not realize from that, that if the all-mighty gubmint tells the banks to freeze safe deposit boxes and look for ... cash ... gold ... or ??? that they will do the gubmint’s bidding? Of course they will. They could start axing people to prove where the cash came from. The gubmint could declare it illegal for private citizens to own gold and that they must sell it back to the government for x$ per ounce (below market) ... oh, that’s right, they did that in 1933. There are many possible scenarios. Be imaginative.
