Maurice Clemmons, the man wanted for questioning, has been convicted of five felonies in his home state Arkansas and has been charged with eight felonies in Washington state.
In 1989, Clemmons, then aged 17, was convicted in Little Rock for aggravated robbery. He was paroled in 2000 after Mr Huckabee commuted Clemmons' 35-year prison sentence. Mr Huckabee, who took criticism during his run for the Republican presidential nomination for the number of pardons he issued, cited Clemmons' age at the time of the sentence.

#1 source of criminals - letting them out of prison.
Coming soon to a family near you.
aw-SHUCK-abee is done.
First Sanford and Ensign... now Huckabee... Palin’s 2012 conservative opposition just seems to be vanishing.
Do you think FOX will cancel his show now ?
He's Mike Dukakis on steroids at this point. Unelectable in the primaries, for certain, although the Dems may crossover and vote for this filth in the general.

Statement Regarding Washington State Slayings
The senseless and savage execution of police officers in Washington State has saddened the nation, and early reports indicate that a person of interest is a repeat offender who once lived in Arkansas and was wanted on outstanding warrants here and in Washington State. The murder of any individual is a profound tragedy, but the murder of a police officer is the worst of all murders in that it is an assault on every citizen and the laws we live within.
Should he be found to be responsible for this horrible tragedy, it will be the result of a series of failures in the criminal justice system in both Arkansas and Washington State. He was recommended for and received a commutation of his original sentence from 1990, this commutation made him parole eligible and he was then paroled by the parole board once they determined he met the conditions at that time. He was arrested later for parole violation and taken back to prison to serve his full term, but prosecutors dropped the charges that would have held him. It appears that he has continued to have a string of criminal and psychotic behavior but was not kept incarcerated by either state. This is a horrible and tragic event and if found and convicted the offender should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Our thoughts and prayers are and should be with the families of those honorable, brave, and heroic police officers.
As a side note, it is interesting that British reporters apparently cannot write a coherent article either.
Agreed. Weak to start with, and this underscores his poor judgement.
Palin's strategy to avoid such tough decisions by quitting on the voters who elected her does seem to have its advantages. Too bad that Huckabee did not likewise bale out by resigning before he pardoned this guy. But some elected officials actually feel a responsibility to the voters to finish the term they were elected to.
Blah blah, blah blah, blah blah! Enough of it already! She gave a totally coherent and reasoned answer and it is not our problem you can’t get over it, or should I say keep beating the dead horse. It is dead already, put the shovel down and back away.
Yep, Palin resign to saved the Alaskans taxpayers millions of dollars from frivolous ethics charges that were political in nature....being that her administration was deluged with FOIA and hampering their work for their constituents....
I’ll agree that Palin gets grief from the left for a lot of things that would be forgiven a liberal hero. But if Huckabee is going to called to account by conservatives for past mistakes, I think it’s fair to point out that he would not even have had the opportunity to err had he not stuck to his post. I happen to think he’s our best bet in 2012 of all the “realistic” candidates. I’d prefer that Palin stick to proclaiming the message and leave the campaigns to guys with a more substantial track record. The stakes are too high, we don’t need amateur hour running against President Obama next time.
A lot of people were wrong about Mike Huckabee - including a lot on FR and we all know why.
Huck’s toast.
You have no idea what you are talking about. Read up on Palin's decision and get back with us.
