Four Lakewood Police Officers murdered on Sunday may have been the target of gangs on the east side of Tacoma. Previous attacks on officers have been reported.
On Sunday, Nov. 29, four Lakewood officers were gunned down in a coffee shop ambush before the start of their shift in Parkland. There are no suspects in custody.
The police have recently started a crack down on Mexican gangs in the state. In July 2009, after the gang crackdown was announced.
On July 30, 2009 a Lakewood police officer's personal car was spray painted with gang tags and set on fire, according to the News Tribune.
The car was parked at the officer's house and was painted with gang tags, then set on fire about 10:45 p.m. Gang tags were also spray painted on the officer's driveway. The officer was in his home at the time, but no injuries were reported by Lakewood Police. His police car was parked next to his personal car and suffered minor heat damage.
The officer had spray painted over gang graffiti in his neighborhood, according to Lakewood Assistant Police Chief Mike Zaro. He did not rule out that it could have been a random act of vandalism after someone spotted a police car parked in the driveway.
Mexican gangs are causing havoc in the Tacoma-Yakima area of Washington with methamphetamine being the drug of choice for the gang. They are moving into Native American territories where a police presence is scant.
Local News story says female body guards (who can kick butt) are also in big demand with the undesirbles that surface in times like these.
Thanks for the list.
If there was a button to push to kill every one of those gangs in toto, I’d push it in a second.
BLAM !
What is a hybrid gang?
Are you listing Gangs known to the US or to the Washington area.
I cant imagine trying to identify all those Gangs by tatoos/imblems in one area.
That would be a fulltime activity in itself.
Hah.
My thought when reading posts on this awful crime is where are all the FR Posters who yell for a grab your arms and take to the streets when our politicians are making poor decisions.
Can you here the crickets chirping now? : )
OTOH It would have been awesome if someone had a CC and lots of range practice positioned in this sad mess who could have intervened.
Thanks for your added information.
Had to run out - back and catching up on the news about this horrific crime.
Pinging Marmema and Just Lori - who know this area - because of the information about gangs in the general area (evidently).,..not saying the killings ARE definitely gang related.,,,just that gang activity in this area evidently has been on the increase.
UPDATE.....Maurice Clemmens age 37 is a person of interest not a suspect whom they took into custody.
Trouble maker in the neighborhood.
Under investatgation for rape of a child.
Was in jail years ago and had sentence comuted.
Clemmens is a paranoid type with many camaras and with above info tells me he is a mental case.
Possible that police got a shot into the suspect (not Clemmens). So looking for someone with possible gun wound.
Washington autthorities are seeking Maurice Clemmons, 37, for questioning in the slaying of four Washington police officers. Clemmons is wanted in Arkansas, where he has an extensive criminal record, according to unnamed sources in early reports. Clemmons also is mentioned in this report.

Live update going on now.
This is not playing out to be gang related thus far.
Mental patient/child rapist/paranoid neighborhood trouble maker.
They are not calling him a suspect but a person of interest and wanted for other crimes
37 yr Old Maurice Clemmens.
Det. Ed Troyer says the status of Pers of Interest may change to suspect...they hit his home but it sounds like no one was home and still on the run.
Also checking Hospitals for bullet wounds that may show up.
$100,000 Reward for info leading to the arrest of the whom ever did this.
Thank you because somehow I have to sleep tonight not far from where this all happened.
My daughter was coming home but now she is staying where she is for awhile.
Well, the reports vary. This one indicates that there were two employees and a few other customers. Four Lakewood officers slain; ‘Person of interest’ identified | KING 5 TV | Seattle News, Local News, Breaking News, Weather | Local News

Learning even more than that. He has been charged with a crime in Arkansas which carries a Life Sentence without parole. He is out on bail because of a contriverasal decision in Arkansas allowing his release until trial. The news said Huckabee was behind that law, but I don't have conformation of that yet.
As unbelievable as it seems those are the gang sets in Pierce county, only. I’m sure the county has full time gang intelligece specialists.
HUH?
Yakima Ave. in Tacoma runs all the way from downtown to 112th. Then it becomes C street. Most of it runs through blue collar neighborhoods.
Another relative lives in the 56th & Yakima area. They have had a terrible time with the gangs. Tagging the garages. An apartment house nearby filled with gang activity. Again, the cops have really been targeting the area to relieve the neighborhood of the gangs.
The guy who killed the officer in Seattle had made note threatening officers. Could there be connection? http://www.mynorthwest.com/?sid=237372&nid=11&page=1
Gang activity is on the increase everywhere. This area of Washington is no exception.
As for the officers murdered today, I think we’ll learn alot more in the coming days.
I still can’t imagine what their families are going through right now. The pain must be unbearable. Let’s embrace them any way we can.
Prayers up!
And THAT, dear FRiend is one of the ways terrorism works. Don’t give in to it.
Yes it is (gang activity on the increase everywhere).
Am with you on the prayers for these officers’ families and friends!!
Know they are going to catch this thug murdering piece of trash. Praying that justice will be done!
