The four officers were going over pre-shift paperwork when a man entered the coffee shop and opened fire with a handgun. The baristas and two customers inside were not injured.
The suspect fled on foot after the shooting.
The suspect is described a black male, 5’8 to 5’9 and in his 20s or 30s. He had scruffy facial hair with a black coat and blue jeans. He used a handgun.
There are possibly looking for another person and are searching multiple places, including residences and parking lot, Troyer said at a briefing.
There is no information on the motive for the deadly killing. There was no preexisting threat against the officers.
As of right now, there is no link to the Oct. 31 slaying of a Seattle police officer.
The FBI has stepped up to assist in the investigation of four murdered Lakewood Police Officers in Parkland, Washington.
Special Agent Robbie Burroughs of the Seattle FBI field office said Sunday morning that special agents from the Seattle field office are already on the scene of the shooting and assisting in the investigation.
The four Lakewood officers have not yet been identified pending notification of their families. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation

See post #35. Two officers ambushed in Seattle on Oc 31 with one shot to death and the other injured. The killer had a grudge against Police Officers and just a few days earlier fire bombed a Police Parking lot, destroying several Police Cars. They did catch him, so this is not related. Unless its a copycat.

And I’m sure the officers in Lakewood and Pierce County would find your donut shop joke this morning a real hoot, and would also tell me to mind my own business.
Yesterday the Muslim festival of Id-ul-Azha ended. This festival is considered the by the most pious of Muslims to believe that all God requires of man is a complete surrender of his will and self.
It is established that this is not gang related. Possible deranged shooter, but they don't usually work in pairs.
...AND could handle a pistol well enough to make use of the knowledge. Best not jump to conclusions.

Kind of like those two police officer who were killed back in the 60s. They were the first NYPD team that was black and white. They were gunned down by black radicals.
The Mayor at the time wouldnt even go to the funerals.
Someone said they werent killed because they were black or white, they were killed because they were blue.

And whatever else they do, DO NOT shoot and kill the black male suspect even if he’s shooting at you. Use a taser or verbal judo, but don’t shoot him. The professional black racists in Seattle and Tacoma will scream race killing if you do.
