Store management called Upland police at 2:44 a.m., asking for assistance in dealing with customers who were fighting inside, said Lt. Jim Etchason.
About 300 people were in the store, which had remained open all night as a security precaution after a Wal-Mart worker on Long Island, N.Y., was trampled to death last year on Black Friday when a surging, impatient crowd rushed the doors after the store opened.
But in Upland, employees said, customers began tearing into merchandise that had been shrink-wrapped and were supposed to be opened at 5 a.m.
This was without a doubt the worst Ive ever seen it, said one employee, who said she has worked a dozen Black Fridays.
They wouldnt let people line up, she added. They were belligerent. They just bombarded the store.
Several officers were sent and stood by as shoppers were kicked out and the store closed down.
Meanwhile, the carts were emptied and all the items returned to the shelves, employees said. But they said that outside, people began yelling and screaming, pounding on the glass doors and trying to sneak into the store through the lawn and garden section.
Store managers had to be sent outside to try to calm the crowd, workers said.
It was scary, one said.
No arrests were made, and no injuries were reported.

Or twice as much, if Democrats run the polls.
Went to my local (rural Southern NM) WalMart yesterday (Saturday) morning, and there were untouched pallets and pallets of ‘Black Friday’ merchandise all over the store...
It would appear that, at this store at least, Black Friday was a bust...
What is “shrink-wrapped?” I have never heard of it (here in Panama.)
Thank you.
The Walmart I went to here in Albuquerque Friday (which was opened 24 hours the as well) was crowded, but orderly. Funny thing I went back about 1:00PM to buy some lights (I burn as many Christmas lights as I can as it makes me feel like I am sticking a thumb in the ‘Gorists’ eye) and there were less then the normal crowd you see on a Friday.
Moochers and other Obamabots were just trying to get the stuff that Obama promised would be theirs if they put him in the White House.
One of our Walmarts experienced a shooting in the parking lot over a flat screen TV. Someone beat someone to the bargain and he didn’t like the fact that they got there before him. It wasn’t fatal, but the irate gunman is in deep doo doo.
This is a bit of an extreme application but you should get the idea...
No arrests were made...Even with all those security cameras?
WAY cool picture. Thanks for sharing.
That’s actually not shrink wrap. That’s stretch wrap. The pallet is spun on a table and the the wrap is applied as it spins.
I arrived there at 3:00 AM. I was greeted at the door by a Walmart employee who handed me a map of the store, showing where the lines for the various hot, high ticket items were located. I had to head to the automotive section.
There was another employee there who took my name and asked me to get into line. He also told me that I was sure to get a computer because there were only 33 computers to sell and I was #20.
A few minutes before 5:00 AM a pallet of computers showed up and by 5:05 AM I headed for the checkout.
All 34 checkout lines were in service and it still took me an hour and a half to pay for my computer and leave the store.
While both waiting until 5:00 and getting to a checkout, it seemed that the crowd was in good spirits. There were absolutely no problems.
Other than the long waits, it was a pleasant experience.
My wife will be happy, her seven-year-old laptop is dying!
That is what WalMart uses, FRiend. The reporter used the wrong term to describe the product. Shrink wrap is hi-tech, used for expensive items. Very few commercial shippers would use a heated product. Too many procedures, too much cost!
No need to get all wee weed up over this.
No need to get all wee weed up over this.
WOW. This is America? This is what we have become? No wonder we end up with an ass like Obama as President and the muslims kicking the backdoor down ready to destroy what is left !!!
