Doesn't the message from Christ, "What profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul?" haunt these people?
Nothing haunts these people except the fear that they'll have to take a position without consulting the polls, and the fear that they won't be able to give away enough taxpayer money to win the next election.
Maybe he was dropped on his head by the nanny when he was a child, and nobody ever told him.
I wonder why he thinks he couldn’t be elected without (effectively) repudiating his religion. Wouldn’t the Dems vote for the name without even considering what he stands for? Wouldn’t they still vote for the socialist, even if *happened* to be against tax-funded abortion?
The faux pluralism that recoils from "imposing" a "religious" viewpoint merely allows Kennedy, Cuomo and Pelosi to duck that argument entirely -- all while pretending to remain faithful to Catholic doctrine.
That's exactly right. Kennedy, Cuomo, Pelosi and the rest of pseudo-Catholics should leave the faith if it doesn't suit to their own personal and political value system. There is no reason why they should remain Catholic if they disagree with Church teaching on a significant issue like abortion. Indeed, from a certain point of view, they are the ones exploiting their connection with the Catholic Church, because they use the Catholic name as some sort of prestigious title to help them identify with a segment of the electorate.
