All the comments about the airbags not going off below a certain speed are off base, including the original comment by the FHP.

Airbags go off based on acceleration, not velocity. If you are going 25 mph and get hit head on by another car going 65, you definitely want your airbags to deploy.

I agree. I had an issue with Chevy about 8 years ago. Had a T-Bone accident, on the passenger side of the vehicular. Passenger was wearing his seatbelt yet only mine (driver) airbag deployed. Chevy sent a lame goose letter back w/ worthless info.

all i was saying in my original comment was that regardless of airbags, an impact at 30mph and a driver w/o his seatbelt on can sustain multiple injuries. i’m guessing thats what happened w/ Mr. Woods
