Hopefully nothing. She doesn’t have a history in politics so there’s unlikely to be some vote or position she took 15-20 years ago to get her in trouble. Alaska wasn’t a hotbed of political activism, so she is unlikely to have been caught being friends with someone or supporting some cause without thinking about what it would mean on the national stage.
(Example would be the charges about Palin supporting Pat Buchanon in 1996, which may have hurt her for a little bit but if I remember turned out to be largely untrue).
As Governor, she didn’t have to deal with a lot of the hot-button issues of our time, and fortunately for conservatives, the few she dealt with she was on our side. About the only thing I can think of that I know has been used against other candidates who had other flaws before would be if as Governor she enacted programs passed by the legislature that she disagreed with.
But anyway, I wasn’t talking about attackes by the left, which were many — I’m talking about something surfacing, or her taking some position on an issue she hasn’t had to work on before, which turns out not to be the “conservative” position.
If there is such a thing though, I do hope it comes out earlier rather than later, so it can either be dealt with before the major campaign (unlike the Fred Thompson case).
Agreed.
But one thing we are finding out is that she’s tough (but we knew that), and resilient, and capable of one huge comeback, like RR.
