Most accept that. There will never be a perfect candidate or one that the masses will agree with 100%. The problem with RINOs is it isn’t just one issue, nor two. Its a complete abandonment of core conservative principles under the guise of an (R) behind the name.

Because he’s a troll and thinks this will make him seem more legit.

One thing they don't tell ya around here is that, one-by-one, eventually all Republicans are given the dreaded RINO label.

Except for the great Mark Sanford, because he never changed positions.......oh, wait.........

You’re late to the party, pal. Why not read next time for before jumping to conclusions.

I’ll answer. Yes, I would have. I will not vote 3rd party, fund 3rd party candidates, or enable 3rd parties in any way. If anyone has a problem with that, too bad, because I’m not likely to change.

I usually am. I’m still trying to figure out what his wife’s measurements have to do with any of this.

Well, all I can say is thank you for being honest.

OK, no, that's not all... Scozzafava over Hoffman. How was she different than Owens? Specifics, please.

Then you’d have voted for the Democrat in Republican clothing, over the true conservative who happened to be running 3rd party because the GOP idiots nominated Scozzafava instead of allowing a primary. Good for you. That really shows some deep seated thinking, and voting values on your part.

To what you’ve said? I’ve read enough of your hysterical histrionics and posting history to know that you put the almighty (R) before anything else. That’s all I need to know. Good day.

I don’t know how many times I’ve said this over this years, but I’ll say it again for clarity. At the end of the day, I’d vote for a more liberal member of an overall conservative party (read GOP) over a more conservative member of an overall liberal party (read Democrats) because what really counts is numerical superiority. I’ll live with individual votes I don’t like in return for control of congress and all the power that comes with it. I honest believe that only a tiny minority of the population, and even FReeper understand how much more powerful the majority party is just because it’s a majority.

See 1733. Numerical superiority is more important than individual votes on the house floor.

That's where they blackout.

You’ll never get purity. The only person you’ll agree with 100% of the time is yourself.

You can't even count on that. I know conscientious lawmakers who regret votes they took and I bet you'd be hard pressed to find lawmakers who don't have regrets about certain votes.

That's why this chase for purity is futile.

I couldn’t disagree more. While numbers are on the top of your list, holding true to the principles of our Founding Fathers is at the top of mine. With every RINO elected, the conservative agenda has moved further and further to the left. I no longer want any part of it.

I saw 1733. When numerical superiority falls on the side of liberalism, which is what we've come to following party line, then what we have is liberalism; regardless of party breakdown. Sorry, but that is the most stupid, ignorant, ridiculous stance I've ever encountered.

You've made yourself abundantly clear. And that's your problem.

Look, I think you have plenty of evidence to buttress your thoughts here, but I want to throw something out there and see if it doesn’t ultimately destroy your argument.

We recently had to vote up or down gay marriage in California. The measure was voted down. We also had five measures on our ballot to vote up or down on more California debt. Every one of those measures also went down to defeat.

If the state were beyond hope, those two things could not have happened. Folks outside our state, not you in particular, need to realize that when our populace is presented with clear cut decisions, they are very capable of making the choice.

How does this apply to candidates? Well, you can’t have a Democrat spending ten million dollars or so and getting backing from the top political figures in his party, then hope to see a Republican win who only has about two million dollars to spend, and gets next to no national support.

You can’t have the Democrats spending millions on advertising, and the Republican depending mainly on news coverage to combat the leftist propaganda. You can’t expect the Republican to prevail when he has very few people come out to participate in the few campaign swings he can afford, when the Democrat is capable of many campaign swings with former presidents and top national figures like the Kennedys et al accompanying him.

When the Republican candidate does remain close, as has happened in California in recent times, it tells you what could be possible if he did get the backing.

The GOP has abandoned one of the most productive states in the nation. It is watching it go down the tubes, with not a care in the world about it.

Some will say that California has nobody to blame but itself, it’s citizens, for how things have turned out. To a degree I agree, but the GOP can’t abandon the politicians in California, then blame Californians for not getting the leadership they need.

In the case of Davis vs Simon, that’s exactly what they did. Simon could have won with California and national GOP leadership support. It didn’t happen. California and Californians lost as a result. So did the nation.

The Democrats pull out all the stops in all the races. The GOP doesn’t.

BTW, Simon was a sound Conservative. He could have won here. We could have avoided a lot of the present problems we are saddled with.

Where was the GOP? I submit they were expressing the mindset of those who have written off California. This resulted in a devastating bad outcome for not only California, but the nation too. When California is healthy, it is capable of being a real resource for the nation.

I suspect many of the New England states could benefit from better strategies too. I don’t know enough of the inner workings to say that’s a given, but any effort at all is better than surrendering territory outright.

I must conclude, that RINOs are the bane of our existence. They have taken over the GOP lock stock and barrel. We’re all paying for it.

Don’t be so quick to write off very important territory. When you do, you entrench our enemies on our soil. We need to turn this around, and as an abandoned citizen behind enemy lines, I and other Californians need your help, not your dismissals and salutations.

No personal offense intended, but we’re at war here, and as far as I am concerned, the GOP has withdrawn from the front and is letting the left entrench and advance at will. We cannot win with this strategy.
