Most likely he did. The only meals he gets free are the one’s like last night (the India state meal). Otherwise, they pay for all their own food.

No, it was paid for by the tax payer, just as it was last year and in year's past when First Families used Thanksgiving as a photo-op.

"Later this afternoon, Michelle, Malia, Sasha and I will take two of their less fortunate brethren to Martha's Table, an organization that does extraordinary work to help folks here in D.C. who need it the most. And I want to thank Jaindl's Turkey Farm in Orefield, Pennsylvania, for donating those dressed birds for dinner."
He didn't even have to pay for all the inconvenienced traffic, nor the security to take him to his photo op...
