RealClimate AGW site can't stand the heat...Comments section turned off!!

146.Comments are now turned off. Unfortunately, the comments are now running about 10:1 insults and innuendo. Serious discussion seems to have largely died off. The last couple of posters did raise some reasonable questions, and I will respond to them after Thanksgiving. Meanwhile happy Thanksgiving to all the American readers (and to everyone else, for that matter).–Eric

I have been monitoring the blog RealClimate.org which is prominently mentioned in the East Anglia U email scandal. RealClimate was set up as a 'rapid response' site by the same 'scientists' who are cooked the data and are trying to force feed CO2 reductions onto the world.

After the scandal broke, they were out right away decrying the criminal 'hacking' of the emails. Then they moved on to defending the 'poorly worded' emails by the scientists who gave us AGW theory. Yesterday they moved on to touting the 'Copenhagen Diagnosis' which is the alarmist view of icecaps melting, the seas rising, and the world baking.

Today they turned the comments off because they are out of BS and the 'questions' about the Copenhagen Diagnosis are getting very specific and they have no answers.

For example, when talking about the loss of sea ice trumpeted in the Copenhagen Diagnosis, Eric (the RC moderator/'scientist') made this observation to a query....Response: No, what you are doing is cherry picking. Those who work on sea ice understand perfectly well the vast differences between Arctic and Antarctic sea ice. The reason I assumed IPCC hadn't done projections for the Antarctic is because I know (and the IPCC authors, of which I'm not one, know) that we can't do that with any reliability. Antarctic sea ice (unlike Arctic) is a question of winds, and thermodynamics barely come into it, which makes it quite a lot harder....

Now when looking at the above statement, can any other conclusion be reached other than he is saying wind DOES not have a material effect on Arctic sea ice compared to Antarctic sea ice? I would say the answer is NO!

A poster to the blog then sent a portion of a NASA (James Hansen's NASA!!) report on the loss of Arctic sea ice....here is the relevent portion from the NASA document......http://www.nasa.gov/vision/earth/lookingatearth/quikscat-20071001.html

Nghiem said the rapid decline in winter perennial ice the past two years was caused by unusual winds. “Unusual atmospheric conditions set up wind patterns that compressed the sea ice, loaded it into the Transpolar Drift Stream and then sped its flow out of the Arctic,” he said. When that sea ice reached lower latitudes, it rapidly melted in the warmer waters.

When confronted with the evidence of his lie or deception, poor Eric was reduced to denying he meant what he said and then changing the subject...............Response: Sigh.. I never said Arctic sea ice isn't affected by winds. What I said was the Arctic sea ice is expected to be more predictable than Antarctic sea ice. The question was about Antarctic sea ice. Read the report, it is very clear on the Antarctic sea.

Bottom line, he says first that the IPCC didn't do projections for the Antarctic sea ice because the factors of wind and thermodynamics make this not knowable. When confronted by the fact that WINDS were responsible for the major ice loss this decade all he can do is spin. No wonder they turned off the comments.

Every day it becomes more clear that global warming is indeed man made. The only problem is it was 'made' up by the likes of Al Gore, Michael Mann, Phil Jones, and the UN, Wall St carbon trading fraudsters, GE, and the usual envirowacko Sierra Clubsm Greenpeace, etc.

They can’t handle peer or citizens review. That is a clear sign that they stand on very shakey ground. They have “belief’s and theories”.

"[Response: Chip: Why on earth are you trying to "compare temperature trends during the past 5-15 years with model projections during similarly short periods". That's a pointless, fruitless, silly exercise. Models reproduce well the statistics of stochastic climate variability, not the details. Homework: Read page 13 of the report again.--eric]"

Could it be that a 15 year comparison will turn out to be as skillful as a 100 year comparison 85 yr. from now?

But didn't Al Gore tell us that Global Warming isn't even a subject of debate anymore?

Has anyone questioned him on this finding that it was all a scam?

"They can’t handle peer or citizens review. That is a clear sign that they stand on very shakey ground. "

Especially as their "science" is only deduced through the use of statistics and they are not statisticians. (And have lousy database management skillz to boot.)

insults and innuendo

Hmmm. That's how you AGW jerks deal with anyone questioning your fake "consensus." Can't take your own medicine, eh?

It was never a subject of debate, because counter arguments were never allowed.

It is just a little ironic that we are about to turn over the economy to the government and set a tremendous millstone on top of it based on all this AGW just as the house of cards collapses. Once Cap&Trade is passed AGW becomes just an interesting detail. Its truth or falsity will no longer be relevant to anything. The machinery it occasioned will be irretrievably on our necks and will be the end of Western Civilization as the Eastern economies continue to expand. The next great world rivalry will be China-India with North America looking like Russia looks today.
