I quit trusting them years ago when they flat denied that Hitlery had anything to do with defending a murdering black panther thug.

Yea - it was freaky. People do drop dead at work, at times, but it is VERY rare, and when it happens to someone who has information and is very close to the top, one would think that an operation like Snopes would be interesting in getting a bit more information, rather than repeating Democratic talking points.

Agreed. I view Snopes and Wikipedia the same way.

I occasionally use Snopes for things like “Was there really 2000 lb 20 foot high grizzly bear that was eating people, as shown in an email I got?”

But use it for “Did John Kerry earn his 3 purple hearts” and your result is predictable.

I realized this during the 04 Kerry/Bush election. I would go to snopes to find out if bad things about Bush were true, and snopes answer was always YES. But when I went to see if bad things about Kerry were true, the answer was always False or Undetermined. I knew then that they were liberal and I stop going to that site. No trust after that. Cant believe its taking people so long to figure this out!!

Snopes is a good source for debunking all those stupid email urban myths you get, but beyond that its a joke

The husband of the team works in IT, and i'd trust them on that matter, they're not inclined toward sensationalism.

It is amusing to watch them go through literary gymnastics on their more political "debunking", especially when the claims run counter to their own agenda. Do you recall the obfuscation they went through to "debunk" the Drudge picture of the baby reaching out of the womb to grab the surgeon's finger a few years ago? That was a howl.

"Let's find a way to discredit the guy who was actually THERE". </sarcasm>

thanks for doing the research.

Not sure what you're trying to tell me there, or whether it's sarcasm or not.

On technology stuff, their approach is pretty conservative. They don't go sensational, and i've yet to see them make a mistake on that kind of stuff.

The husband of the team works in IT.

If you have run across any errors that they made on that subject, point me to them.

i DON'T trust them on anything political. They have this irritating habit of trying to debunk eyewitness reports of events that don't fit their political universe. And the so-called logic that they use when attempting to do so is laughable.

I stopped using them after they ‘cleaned’ the site of Obama’s Muslim background.

It never said he wasn’t a Muslim, it said ‘his handlers said their was no proof available that they knew of’....

When the big stir came, they cleaned the site.
