Rochester, N.Y. - Sarah Palin greeted more than 1,000 supporters in Rochester Saturday.
Palin continues to generate controversy over claims made in her book Going Rogue, which has been Amazon's top seller since its debut Tuesday.
On page 114 of her book, Palin details her run for governor as fueled by small donations--mostly from first-time political donors.
According to Follow the Money Web site, she raised $1.3 million for her primary and general election campaigns. More than half came from donations of $500 or more. The report says money attributed to political action committees is deceiving.
For example, telecom giant GCI is listed as contributing $1,000. But senior management employees added another $7,400. The Web site contributors found other similar examples.
Palin's book takes issue with the handling she received by staffers of John McCain, too. Since the books release, much of that has degenerated into a he said-she said debate.
Yet there are claims made where numbers can be tracked, and there are cases where they don't add up.
On page 232, Palin says when she traveled on state business, she asked for only reasonably priced hotel rooms, not the "high end, robe and slippers" treatment.
Yet in October of 07, when Governor Palin and her daughter attended a five-hour seminar in New York City, they stayed four nights at the Essex House Luxury Hotel overlooking Central Park, costing Alaska taxpayers $707 a night.
Having been called on this, Palin has since agreed to pay the state back for her daughters travel expenses related to that trip.
Members of the McCain campaign have been vocal about other claims in the book, including Palin's recollection of how she ended up on Saturday Night Live. In her book, she quotes herself as saying Lets do this. But e-mail correspondence suggests otherwise.

Palinoia
I thought the book was fact-checked by ABC -— the ABC, the one who loves Obama and all communist dictators everywhere -— and was found mostly accurate, with a few minor exceptions.
I consider a $500 to $1,000 donation to fall in the high end of the catagory of small donations. I’m far from being a fat cat, or rich by any means, since I’m living on a pension, but I’ve donated that much to a candidate that I liked. So, as far as I’m concerned the author if this article can shove it.
As for the $700 hotel, if you actually read what Palin wrote she said that she usually chose lower price hotels, she did not say that she always chose lower price hotels. Besides, a $700 a night hotel bill for 2 people in NY City is not consider that outrageous.
Interesting to see how many people are “fact checking” Palin’s book, but no such effort was ever put into “fact checking” anyone else’s book, and no such effort is being expended in “fact checking” the 0bamacare bills.
Just goes to show you who all these “fact checkers” and those who employ them, are deathly afraid of.
'nuff said. And the ramifications of that simple display will become apparent in 2010 and 2012.
“On page 232, Palin says when she traveled on state business, she asked for only reasonably priced hotel rooms, not the “high end, robe and slippers” treatment.”
Another example of how “these people” just boldly state blatant lies.
Palin said “often” not “only”.
These articles are works of fiction, or worse.
Pretty sloppy, or deliberately inaccurate reporting by this writer. If she'd been paying attention, she'd know that the "he said" coming from that Schmidt character had been going on months before Sarah's book was released.
This writer, rather than "separating fact from fiction" is adding to the fiction, and also adding to the sloppy, irresponsible reporting.
I wouldn’t care if they found out that Palin kicked Juan McCain in the stones during the campaign I’m still going to vote for her,Pro deo et patria.
I suppose they figured out the difference between a single room with two beds, vs a single bed. And every politician who takes a spouse or mistress on a taxpayer-funded trip gets the same scrutiny as a Mom who takes her kid.
I’d sure like the same folks to report who was aboard Air Force One when it buzzed NYC. That cost a lot more than Sarah’s 5 night NYC stay.
There will be no dithering in a Sarah Palin Administration.
Bookmarked for viewing at home. (when I’m not stuck behind a firewall that filters out Youtube videos.)

Obama Poll Drops to New Low: -15

Strongly Disapprove 42%
Total Approval 45%
Sometimes you can get around it by doing a google search (in this case for “Awaken O America”) and then clicking on the youtube link that comes up in the search to take you the youtube video.
So, another leftist media outlet chimes in to bash Palin!
Must be a slow news day.
Really? Somebody is investigating whther the amounts of donations were ‘big’ or ‘small’...
Not a word about Kathleen’s illegal Tiller money...which she accidentally LIED TO CONGRESS about...
So I guess the problem with Palin isn’t that she’s a woman, or a governor from a small population state...
Must be something else.

Those 11 AP idiots should do the same for obamas campaign as well as his administration....
Saw the comments, Lorenz nailed it!
Actually, I would consider that a big plus on Sarah's side:)
They sure have gotten the nit combs out for Sarah’s book, haven’t they?
