No one won NY-23 [Updated 11/23 5:20PM]

It is time to issue a federal subpoena to find out exactly how officials “corrected” the vote.

Why, you may ask?

Because, as we learned yesterday, at least some of the certified electronic voting machines in the NY-23 congressional special election were discovered to be running malicious code (a virus) in the week prior to voting. We now hear word that election officials, According to the report, election officials, after cleaning only the identified machines, took no further action to re-certify other voting machines in the district.

Although the technical nature of such a virus is interesting; it is difficult to adequately explain in article format. For the technical minded, the programming technique (called return-oriented programming) utilized is described here; while the application of this technique is described here (h/t Scope).

For the layman, I’ll simply list a few facts regarding the virus:

1. The virus could only have been implanted after the voting machine was installed into the polling centers and the machines turned on at least once.

2. The virus was implanted by an operative with direct, physical access to the voting machines.

3. The virus is eliminated only when power is completely removed, and not necessarily when the machine is “turned off”.

4. The virus works not by “injecting” new code into the system, but by confusing the system by piecing together valid code fragments to form a new code (for example, a vote for Hoffman could become a vote for either no one or a vote for Owens; but the attacker is quite limited in their ability to, for example, generate a random number). Therefore, given the exact virus code run on each affected machine, it would be quite easy to reconstruct the true vote...

I skipped the beginning of the article and took this excerpt from the point where the author starts getting into specific detail about the virus. It is a long article with a number of updates (most added 11/23) but it is worth reading. There is quite a bit of detail on the virus, how it was handled and what should be done. It is not too late.

It is very possible that Hoffman won the election and it sounds as if, for a number of reasons, it would be worth contesting the whole election process in this district in court. This is why Hoffman is up in arms and ready to fight.

Just like the election itself, fighting this bogus outcome successfully could have very significant long term benefits and make a big difference to the 2010 election cycle.

The ballot box is long since proven to be worthless.

Your move, should you choose to take one.

I was wondering if PAC money is allowed to be used for this purpose - any body know?

The fat lady hasn't sung, yet! America(ns) will win, unless we give up in defeat. We must sharpen our tools, and get in their faces!

This should have been a slam dunk.

Thank Dede, Newt Gingrich and the GOP RINO Scum party goons in NY-23.

And any Newtie stooges here who want to attack me - get a life. The RINO and serial divorcee screwed us here.

On how many threads and in how many replies are you going to repost this moronic sentiment?

Pessimism is for liberals and dumbasses.

Hmmm...wonder if the same kind of thing could have happened in the 2008 elections?

We are at war. This one has no guns (yet), but it has deadly repercussions. I was appalled at the Pubbies for boosting Scuzzie. Newt, who?

I sent money to hom after Sarah Palin mentioned him. She is more aware of the politicals than I, and I trust her judgment. After watching this fiasco, I will send more.

Watching Palin on Greta, right now. She shows up for interview in an Army T-shirt. She looked as comfortable as in her suit on the bus! She's a winner...

Frantzie - scan thru the article. I’ve read a lot about NY-23 and there’s new info in this piece. The fraud could have been so bad that what Newt did was minor by comparison.

The whole thing needs to see the light of day and be in the news so everyone knows how serious election fraud really is. I’ve even felt for a long time that an honest election in 2008 might not have given the win to BO.

Makes the absentee ballot look very appealing despite its problems.

because they were so smug beforehand....even two years before....that it was a given that zero would be president.....THAT is why I believe there was a gigantic fix.....

it needed only to be in some areas....but the traditional red states....going blue?....I just don't believe it...

absentee ballots should be mailed just immediately before the postal offices close....our ballots should be counted after the big rat cities get their fix in....they won’t know how many to cheat on...

We’re going to need a lot of strategy like that, cherry. A tough one is all the redistricting they are going to be conducting.

All voting should be in person, unless physically impossible, IMHO. Motor voter needs to be repealed, and the voters challenged at the polls to produce proper ID. That is how to defeat fraud.

There are also other things which can easily be done...

Got a call from Newts PAC dialing for $$$ today. Told them that I had no cash for him, but that I had something else... A few words for Newt! “Support Conservatives and not RINOs in the future and MAYBE just MAYBE we might give a crap what you have to say”. Then I told the gal no personal offense and to have a good night!
