Reminds me of the rhetoric to justify Sunshine policy. A new age and a new age of thinking, breaking old coldwar mentality. However, where did it get us? Two nuclear tests by Chia Head, and a new attempt to consolidate N. Korea as fully recognized nuclear state.
S. Korean conservatives sometimes say that things would be better if S. Korean left have even one tenth of the sense American liberals have. They think S. Korean pinkos are trash while U.S. ones are decent. I don't think so. Both are equally bad.

Just spoke to people in India and there’s a large chunk of literati and BJP opposition types not too impressed by Obama, particularly what’s seen as a major kowtow to China and a perception that despite the rhetoric, Pakistan has arisen in importance and esteem - at India’s expense. A little hyperbolic, methinks, let’s see how things pan out.
And as an aside, the Enviros demonisation of India is getting them pissed. Really pissed.
