They thought it was not appropriate to go to such extremes while the economy is in the toilet. They want them to set a good example and are disappointed they the obama's aren't measuring up.

And the Indians know how to do spectacle 
And are not likely to be impressed by what Obama stages
More likely result will be a repeat of the Japan trip: Failure to dazzle, but he tries, so polite public noises.

I cannot understand why Hollywood “elite” would be invited to a state dinner. They are neither statesmen nor geniuses. Nor are they patriots. They will fit right in.
