WASHINGTON (AP) - The White House said President Barack Obama could use an unusual evening war council session Monday to lock in his long-awaited decision on whether to commit tens of thousands of new U.S. forces to the stalemated war in Afghanistan.
Military officials and others said they expect Obama to settle on a middle-ground option that would deploy an eventual 32,000 to 35,000 U.S. forces to the 8-year-old conflict.
That rough figure has stood as the most likely option since before Obama's last large war council meeting earlier this month, when he tasked military planners with rearranging the timing and makeup of some of the deployments.

The centerpiece will be his exit strategy because he realizes that the war is now unpopular and that his base will be upset if he authorizes any troop increase.

First things first,the war can wait.
I think that the announcement, is that they will wait until CHRISTMAS to make a formal decision.
Isn’t General McChrystal’s assessment a bit stale after three months of dithering? Afghanistan is not a vacuum just waiting for the Jug-Eared one to make a decision.
If he actually makes a decision, even to send limited amounts of reinforcement, I’m going to really think that he must know he’s locked up the necessary votes on healthscam, because the left is going to howl like banshees over even that much.
Conclusion: Our men and women are coming home by the end of March 2010.
His decision will be made in the second week of December....after he’s received his Nobel Piss Prize.
Meanwhile, for any of you warmongering military types, please know that while your buddies are getting killed or having their arms, legs and manhood blown off, because of a lack of reinforcements that were requested many months ago, Obama is thinking about you.
That’s right, while you are trying to survive in that sandpit, Obama will no doubt be thinking of you over Thanksgiving. He thinks about you while he’s golfing. He thinks about you while he goes on his world apology tours.
So Troops, don’t worry, Americas First Failed Black Pres-dent has the helm and he will make all things better.... just sit back and “hope, for the “change”.
