The truth ... on base or off base, in uniform there IS no freedom of speech. God help a sailor or airman if he voice his views publicly, paticularly in a forum that will reach others. It falls unders UCMJ .... penetration however slight ....
The military individual lives under dicatorship to protect and preserve the rights of Americican’s under the Constitution. It is why the Oath is taken upon enlisting or commisioning and is taken seriously.
This is what I am trying to say. I can see the Army telling Sarah not to give a political speech, but why would the Army prevent her from giving a troop morale pep speech, a USO style speech. I’m I wrong in believing the famous personalities give pep rallies through the USO? Are USO affiliates the only one allowed to give pep speeches. I just see the Army as handling the situation in an overtly hostile manner. The Army could have asked Sarah not to make a speech with out the fact leaking to the press.
True, but Gov. Palin is not in uniform nor a member of the armed forces.
I guess freedom of speech and dissent being patriotic only applies to those who hate this country.

If this is true how did the military Jihads give speeches and such contrary to upholding our Constitution and get away with it?
