The Service Employees International Union on Sunday reported spending nearly $1 million on an independent expenditure television campaign praising eight House Democrats for backing a health care bill earlier this month.
Here's how the SEIU spent $998,000 among the eight districts: Baron P. Hill, Indiana's 9th district ($162,000); Dina Titus, Nevada's 3rd ($157,000);

They are collecting their dirty payback for their vote.
SEIU says, “Sh*t!” and Democrats squat and ask, “What color?”
A little tail is wagging a big dog.
Or, a whisker is twitching the cat.
Good thing SEIU is creating jobs with that money.
Jobs for which the workers had best beware they might not get paid.
Obama paid them ... now they pay him back... it’s only taxpayer dollars... no worries.
Starve the beast. The less tax dollars, the less they can spend.
shouldn’t there be a rule to stop tax payer money going towards campaigning for either side
In principle they shouldn’t be using ACORN monies for that. This is what the political action part of union dues are for. But who knows what actually happened.
I don’t know about anyone else but Gerry Connoly (VA) has been advertising on the local news (by the AFL-CIO), sending out fliers, and having Robo-Calls saying how he saved Medicare. This one week after he voted for the Healthcare bill. He mistakenly sent me a Robo-Call in which I promptly returned the message saying it was nothing more than a lie and I would appreciate not having these in the future.
I also noticed that on Fox they had people out saying how they saved Medicare. Damage control is in full force even as they continue to vote for this.
The story just says it’s an independent expenditure campaign. If SEIU is using PAC money (i.e. voluntary contributions), that’s fine. But they’ve probably wordsmithed the ads as “informational” or “issue advocacy,” as opposed to “electioneering.” In the real world this is a distinction without a difference, but in the looney tunes world of campaign finance law, it’s the legal fiction which allows them to use compulsory dues money. That’s where the problem lies.
Street thugs praising liars and theives?
That is akin to Jeffrey Dahmer getting praise from John Wayne Gacy.
Here in Michigan Jenny Granholm is giving the SEIU a 2 million dollar tax credit.
but it’s a waste of money because it isn’t going to work.
Jenny completes the destruction of Michigan.
Thank God for term limits on Michigan Governors.
Especially in THIS case!
On the downside, I think its pretty likely that she’ll land a spot in the Obozo administration. Lets not forget, she was an economic advisor on his transition team.
