THOMSON, Ill., Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Thousands of jobs would be created in Illinois if the U.S. government purchases a nearly empty prison there to house terror detainees, a study indicates.
The study, performed by the Obama White House Council of Economic Advisers and obtained by The Chicago Sun-Times, asserted that 2,290 to 2,960 jobs would be created in and around Thomson, Ill., in the first year after its conversion to house some of the prisoners now held at the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, detention facility, the newspaper reported Sunday.
Local residents in the Illinois-Iowa border town would be "good candidates" to fill 1,240 to 1,410 of those jobs, the report indicated.

Oh yeah, jobs, right. How long will those jobs be there? Is der fuehrer planning on keeping all of those prisoners there forever? Maybe he is planning on releasing them and filling the prison with those who don’t buy health insurance from the government or maybe those who refuse to go along with the rest of his facist-nazi plans.
We have MILLIONS of folks out of work, millions of folks that have lost their homes and millions of folks have lost their dreams.
All of that and much much more, and THIS is the best Obama and his criminal conspirators can do!
Absolutely EVERYTHING is above the pay grade of Americas First Failed Black Pres-dent.
I thought all the mean jobs were already taken.
Hmmm, they pay their prison workers here with “no” problem.
Good point you make, thanks.
If anyone makes a deal with CA to take some of their prisoners, the entities taking them should ask for a BIF deal. (Bread In Front) No IOU’s.
Correct SEIU and Crony Jobs. Defeat this travesty! Why not New York where our state is going bankrupt. We have lots of mental hospitals they could be locked up in! All of the crazy people are outside!
Christina Romer is Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers.
Well, that settles it. I believe them! /s
They have done such a wonderful job at creating JOBS all over the country. /s
It appears the AFSCME is the union of choice in that area.
Same crap, different name.
Attack, Republicans, attack.

In a double dip recession why is no one in our media speaking out about the money spent in Gitmo that will be wasted?

I wonder if they counted the hundreds of extra security positions they’ll need at O’Hare if they go ahead with this.

Survey Shows Only 32% of Illinois Voters Support Quinn/Durbin Plan to Move Gitmo to Illinois, 57% Oppose
60% of women, 58% of independents and plurality of Democrats call plan a “bad idea”
Less than one-third of Illinois voters support a plan to move terrorists from Gitmo to Thomson, Illinois while 57 percent call it a “bad idea,” according to a survey released today by We Ask America, a division of Xpress Professional Services, Inc. of Springfield, Illinois.
According to the overnight survey of 1,791 likely Illinois voters, 60 percent of women and 58 percent of independents oppose the plan. Even Democrats narrowly oppose the plan, 44.5 percent to 43 percent.
That’s not thousands of jobs.
The only good thing is it’s likely to happen to Illinois, a state that’s truly earned it by cursing us with the Illegal Alien and Senator Turban.
Oh, now isn’t that just special? Three thousand new taxpayer funded federal government jobs to molly-coddle a couple of hundred terrorists who are dedicated to the destruction of the U.S.
Somehow I just don’t think this will help the economy that much, seeing as how these jobs will be a drain on the economy rather boosting the economy by creating new wealth.
Ahhhh......
Many new fresh faces to spit on. The terrorists will love it.
it doesn’t matter how many people oppose the transfer, the demons passed maobamacare when most of their constituants opposed it.
