Once I built a railroad, I made it run, made it race against time.
Once I built a railroad; now it's done. Brother, can you spare a dime?
Once I built a tower, up to the sun, brick, and rivet, and lime;

Forget about the Great Recession. Pay no heed to home foreclosures. Ignore double digit unemployment.
The stimulus package is working! That is thrust of a New York Times article written from the alternate economic universe. Here is the happy face appraisal of the stimulus package presented by Times writers Jackie Calmes and Michael Cooper who counter the criticism of that program with this gem:
But with roughly a quarter of the stimulus money out the door after nine months, the accumulation of hard data and real-life experience has allowed more dispassionate analysts to reach a consensus that the stimulus package, messy as it is, is working.

I’m still waiting on my pony.
I see the NY Slimes has decided to give up on that Journalism thing and start writing comedy.
The same consensus that wants KSM tried in NYC, all the people “in the know, “ and nuts to everyone else.
This lying communists rag needs to go.
Well, golly gee Buffalo Bob, it must be true if the NYT says it is. Either that, or they’re trying to compete with Scrappleface.
NYT = All the news that fits them to print!
It’s not a Great Recession, it is Great Depression II. Almost to the letter, the now failing (and flailing) nascent obama regime is trying to institute the NEW New Deal.
Its effect in 1933 was to prolong the depression for nearly a decade, with the country being in WORSE economic shape in 1938 than it was in 1933. Only the economic stimulus of the Second World War, and the US acting as the arsenal for Great Britain for a couple of years before the US entered the war themselves, managed to restore full employment and relatively prosperous times for heavy manufacturing. And the “full employment” was achieved by drafting into service everybody who was not working at a full-time, productive job that supported the defense industry in some way.
The employment demands were such, that millions of women went to work in jobs that had traditionally been done only by men.
The biggest stimulus package of all would be to go to war somewhere. Now if we could just pick the right enemy....
The NYT also thinks it is a great newspaper. Go figure.
“the accumulation of hard data”
LOL! Is that like the hard globull warming data NYT’s Andy Revkin got spoon fed from Hadley and CRU?
Oh. My. God. This ‘new consensus’ must be occurring in the Twilight Zone in which the zombies and reporters from the New York Times live. The most laughly absurd and unbelievable headline of the entire year!

CAPTAIN REDBEARD RUM: The crew, my lord?
BLACKADDER: Yes, the crew.
RUM: What crew?
BLACKADDER: I was under the impression that it is common maritime practice for a ship to have a crew.
RUM: Opinion is divided on the subject.
BLACKADDER: Really?
RUM: Yes. All the other sea captains say it is ... I say it isn't.
I noticed they did not allow me to leave a comment on the article at the NYS so I had to add my comments here.
I want my bribe (is it $250 or $500?) for swallowing a $500 billion cut to Medicare to finance Obamapelosicare.
the accumulation of hard data
“”LOL! Is that like the hard globull warming data NYTs Andy Revkin got spoon fed from Hadley and CRU?””
BINGO BUMP!!
Santa Claus still hasn’t given me the Barrett rifle I have been asking for. The Easter Bunny shafted me, too.
