NYT Environmental Writer Confirms Probable Authenticity of Hacked Climate Change Messages
NewsBusters ^ | November 20, 2009 | P.J. Gladnick

Let us give New York Times environmental writer Andrew Revkin credit. He is one of the few in the mainstream media reporting on the hacked global warming e-mails story which has gone viral in the blogosphere and was covered in-depth by NewsBusters' Noel Sheppard. If you aren't yet familiar with this brewing scandal then I recommend you get up to speed on this controversy by reading Sheppard's blog post.

Despite Revkin's commendable willingness to at least cover this controversy, he is still stubbornly clinging to his global warming belief...for now. Perhaps his stubborness against veering away from the global warming doctrine is more a matter of inertia. After all, he has invested over 10 years of his life in that particular dogma and it is not easy to give it up overnight despite the shocking revelations of the e-mails. Here is Revkin's not very convincing money quote disclaimer:

The documents will undoubtedly raise questions about the quality of research on some specific questions and the actions of some scientists. But the evidence pointing to a growing human contribution to global warming is so broad and deep that the hacked material is unlikely to erode the overall argument.

Golly, think how many scientists and psuedo-experts have their lives invested in Global Warming.

And High Priest Algorebacle has, with all the charm of the Hamblin Pied Piper, led the Congers (sic) down a path which would greatly harm the economy of the United States.

Cap and Tax is one of the most stupid ideas to come along in a century or more, but it has a lot of momentum. I hope the country comes to its senses before the Congers actually votes this economy destroying monstrosity into law.

He has to cling to the overall story that this religion has some validity or he would be out of a job.

Andrew Revkin is the subject of a number of the e-mails. He’s in cahoots with the AGW alarmist scientists.

With the recent report that a common cyanobacter found in the ocean is the source of half the oxygen in the world (after it's infected by one or several viruses that stimulate it to produce even more oxygen), the whole AGW schtick was ready to take a nosedive anyway.

The cyanobacter have been doing their trick irrespective of whether the globe was warming or cooling, but Fur Shur they regulate the aggregate CO2 atmosphere on this planet ~ and the more we create the more they have to eat.

Last week some scientists studying the same process reported they could make a precursor chemical to what can only be described as "light crude oil" ~ virtually identical to that found in the best wells in Saudi Arabia.

AGW is good. Algore is bad.

Ah yes, “science”, the same quality used in so much other stuff, all lies and propaganda being fed to young heads (and not so young) full of mush as Rush says. Today’s “science” is a religion and you’d better believe it, or else.

This is fast becoming another dark age and the high priests of “science” rule.

“the evidence pointing to a growing human contribution to global warming is so broad and deep”

Even though it was all fabricated?

What exactly are we seeing when the better part of a million tea party protesters march past a MSM reporter and she reports that “thousands” marched? We are seeing what happens when a citizen of the Plastic Reality is smacked with a fact that is at odds with their “perception”.

We are seeing the very same thing when continual climate change is perceived to be man’s fault and the Plastic Reality crowd sees it as a way to atone for their sins, by suppression the liberty and prosperity of the rest of us.

One only has to recall that the whole of North Africa was once the wheat basket for the Roman Empire to know that the climate is always changing. In our own American southwest, about 1000 years ago, the natives lived in cliff dwellings up until the climate changed so much that they could no longer grow sufficient crops.

The climate is always changing. The question must only be: to what extent has human activity caused harmful change.

There is no interest as strong as a vested interest. They are going to be like a pack of PO'ed Pit Bulls.

There they go again.
Substituting unsupported opinion for news.

Who cares what your opinion is Sparky?

If you can't cite above reproach data from other sources, silence would be the better strategy here.

Here is a series of articles by Thomas Sowell proving the foolishness of "studies citing other studies..." when the one study is fake or doctored; but read the whole thing at the link. It is an education...

Studies Prove...

" My late mentor, Nobel Prize-winning economist George Stigler, used to say that it could be very instructive to spend a few hours in a library checking up on studies that had been cited. When I began doing that, I found it not only instructive but disillusioning.

A footnote in a textbook on labor economics cited six studies to back up a conclusion it reached. But, after I went to the library and looked at those six studies, it turned out that they each cited some other study — the same other study in all six cases.

So, obviously, the statement that all other research centers can't also be fraudulent borders on naivete.

The story is now on Yahoo’s science news page, That page has been full of hot air cult propaganda for years. The story is an opinion piece credited to Investor’s Business Daily. That story also features the admission by several climate scientists that data from the past few years shows that no global warming has occurred.

I really hope the whip comes down on these charlatans. I can think of a few prominent snake oil salesmen who should personally be held to account for this. Al Gore is the first among those equals.

Studies Prove: Part I (Aug. 8, 2006)
Studies Prove: Part II (Aug. 10, 2006)
Studies Prove: Part III (Aug. 11, 2006)

I don't know how I missed those three when they were released.

Just as the blogosphere contributed to forcing the mainstream media to admit fraud of Dan Rather, it may again force the mainstream media into the uncomfortable position of having to admit they are as biased, one sided and agenda driven as the AGW pinheads. And they wonder why their credibility and ratings continue to drop...
