...Colford said AP didn't fact-check Obama's two books, for example, because "neither of those books were published when he was a major player on the scene."

That is so transparently a lie. What about fact checking the book when Obama became a major player on the scene? What about that? Typical corrupt MSM dissembling.

Obama , the author, gets rock-star reception at book signing
Courier, The (Lincoln, IL) -

CHICAGO - They stood in the rain for hours and, when they finally came face to face with Barack Obama , they gushed.

They laughed big laughs at his little jokes. They whipped out cameras and camera phones and started clicking. And as Obama signed copies of his latest book, they begged him to run for president.

While a U.S. senator with a new book might be expected to draw a big crowd in his hometown, Tuesday’s book-signings at 57th Street Books in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood and at a Borders bookstore downtown were something else entirely. After all, Obama , a top Democratic party campaigner and fundraiser, is the hottest commodity in American politics.

In Hyde Park, lines stretched around the block. At Borders, people lined up three hours before the store opened and six hours before Obama arrived.

“For our generation he is kind of the lighthouse, the hope,” Allison Ringhand, a 19-year-old University of Chicago student from Milwaukee said at the senator’s first stop. “He’s changing the face of government in America.”

One after another, college students, retirees and those in between took turns throwing around words like “charismatic” and “hope” or, if that wasn’t enough, “shining hope.” They even tossed out the “K” word, as in John F. Kennedy.

“You know Kennedy was in the Senate for two years when he ran for president,” said Barbara O’Connor, 76, a few minutes before buying three copies of Obama ‘s “The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream” at the Hyde Park store.
