I would point out that whoever lettered the sign in post 130 almost certainly lettered the sign in my post 131. It is the same hand.
Thank you for your reply. What I am saying is... that the sign in #131 never existed in reality, i.e. the image was created by digital manipulation. It appears to be an exact copy of the image in #6 except for a portion of the phrase that is on the sign. The contemporary article linked in #99 also shows the same sign with the same wording as the one in #6.
I think that #131 was created by rearranging the letters (digital cut and paste) from the sign in #6, and by creating, in a similar appearance, any other letters needed for the phrase “say islam is violent”. For instance, the letter ‘y’ is not available for cut and paste in #6 so it would need to be created... notice it is blurry looking compared to the other letters.
I remember seeing the #131 image in 2006 on a thread here, and knowing that some Freepers (and others) are notorious for using Adobe Photoshop methods for creating ironic or amusing images, I realized that the image was created by altering the message on the sign.
Digital photo manipulation is here to stay (see Keyword “fauxtography”) but I like to know, to the extent possible, what is “real”.
