What I can’t understand is how this guy got promoted all the way to major when everyone apparently knew what a nut case he was.

What I can’t understand is how this guy got promoted all the way to major when everyone apparently knew what a nut case he was. Doctors, start as Captains. So that's only a single promotion, and for doctors, it's like the to 2LT to 1LT promotion, almost automatic.
