Is Smoker-in-Chief Giving Up Cigarettes Today?

A cloud is hanging over the Oval Office today as Americans wonder whether or not Smoker-in-Chief Barack Obama is giving up cigarettes during today’s Great American Smokeout.

Truth be told, one would hardly know the event that takes place annually on the third Thursday of November is taking place today.

As of this posting at noon Central today, few in the mainstream media had even mentioned the annual event online and none — NOT ONE! — had broached the subject of whether or not Smoker-in-Chief Barack Obama, the nation’s top elected official and an on-again-off-again smoker, would refrain from toking on his “cancer sticks” for at least 24 hours as his way of encouraging others to quit.

In case you doubt me, run a Google Advanced Search of the word, “Obama”, and the exact phrase, “Great American Smokeout”, and see what you find. That search produced only nine results. Only one mentioned the president’s name, but none mentioned it in reference to the day set aside for a break from smoking. In addition, a Google Advanced News Search of the exact phrase, “Great American Smokeout”, yielded barely 600 results.

Could it be that members of the Fourth Estate are more interested in maintaining a smoke-free image for the president than they are in reporting the truth about his personal habits? Seems that way.

The last time President Obama’s smoking habit made news was just over two weeks ago in the sixth paragraph of a Nov. 3 article in the UK’s Daily Mail:

The unnamed ‘insider’ quoted by the report insisted that Mr Obama was working ‘non-stop’ – and that he was not chain-smoking.

The source didn’t say President Obama wasn’t smoking. He only said the president “was not chain-smoking.” As a result, a cloud now hangs over the Oval Office.

Of course not, but as health monitor in chief I’m sure he’ll tell everyone else to.

Zero’s addiction to nicotine is the least of our problems.

He’ll keep smoking, being the addict that he is. If he quit cigarettes, he’d probably have to smoke pot or crack (at least moreso that he currently partakes).

"Zero’s addiction to nicotine is the least of our problems."

Exactly right. I would rather have a president who smoked eight packs a day and loved America than this joker...

If I owned Phillip Morris in its entirety, I’d take out thousands of bulletin boards and TV ads (illegal, I know) that showed Obama smoking. “At least someone still likes us!”

Giving up smoking was the hardest thing many folks have ever done to improve their health. Chances of him giving up “the coffin nails,” while attempting to run whatever it is he feels he is running [could it be ... *gulp* ... the United States?], will be difficult at best.

Imagine the stupid articles in the press today if Winston Churchill was still alive.

“Could it be that members of the Fourth Estate are more interested in maintaining a smoke-free image for the president than they are in reporting the truth about his personal habits? “

Other articles talk about the Pres loosing a lot of weight. He also stated that he may not run for re-election.

Could it be that he has AIDS and he has to quit smoking?

I believe that his personal habits “chickens” are finally coming home to roost.

I remember as a young teenager hearing the criticism of Reagan for being a former smoker.

In fact, besides cigar smoking, I think you would have to go back to Johnson to find a regular smoker in the White House. If Bush or McCain were smokers, do you think that there wouldn’t have been huge stories about it and how they are bad role models for todays youth?

The half-white President Obama, though, gets a pass.

“I hope he smokes a carton a day”

I hope so too! I hope he suffers all the ill effects possible and I hope he tries to quit and is unable to do it. Misery be upon him!

Zero’s addiction to nicotine is the least of our problems.

It's not our problem.

But it sure is a valid thing to hammer him with since Dems are the nanny-state party behind all the laws persecuting smokers.

It is very hard to quit, I know, I did it cold turkey many years ago, and finally succeeded after many failed attempts.

I don’t think zero has the willpower though. I don’t think he’s ever done anything difficult as a matter of fact.

People need a “cause”. And although smoking (like steroids in baseball) is far down the list of America’s problems, it does indeed make for a good distraction.

While Americans’ attention is focused on the tobacco-based fags, the other fags can proceed unhindered with their seduction of our children, the baby-butchers can earn a lucrative living, and the murderous muslims can infiltrate our armies.

Y’know, I believe I’ll cease and desist ridiculing (formerly-)Great Britain...when America is busily earning our own “FAIL”.

It is day 28 for me and day 27 for my wife. I can't believe we haven't beat each other.
