Wow, those pictures sure give a sense of scale. I thought modern subs were bigger than that.

(I remember getting in the Gato class in Mobile. One of the vets inside invited us to take a peek into one of the machinery spaces since we were obviously not just casual visitors. It was amazing ... how little room there was to move around in that thing.)

90% is underwater. A Los Angeles Class is 32’ diameter and 365’ long.

SSBNs (Ohio class) are quite a bit larger than SSN Los Angeles class.
