Iowa's two Republican Congressmen, Steve King and Tom Latham, are fighting against an Obama administration proposal to transfer the Guantanamo Bay terrorist prison to the Iowa-Illinois border. But Democrat Bruce Braley supports the plan and believes Club Gitmo Midwest could have a "substantial economic impact" on the area.

Most folks I talk to around here (County Thomson Prison is in) are all for it. Seems safer than having a bunch of Illinois bad guys holed up there who would get a lot more visitors...many who are also really bad to our area.
The Iowa Congressman is naive to think that any economic benefit of relocating Gitmo to Illinois will benefit his district. My bet is that the relocation of Gitmo to Illinois will result in a massive payoff to Obama’s Illinois buddies. I would expect that the prison will be sold to the feds at an inflated price and that union workers from Chicago will do all of the renovation complete with under the table deals and kickbacks. The good Congressman also better check with his constituents because I wouldn’t think they would be too happy to have these terrorists housed in their back yard.
I find it offensive that any politician would even think about using captured war criminals for profit, let alone publicly state it. What the hell has American become, when we become so economically desparate and morally corrupt that we need to bring war criminals to America to boost the economy?
This region already had a close call with a terrorist in Rockford's Cherry Vale Mall a couple of years ago.
I say, "No terrorists in Illinois."
I'm roughly an hour's drive away, and I'd like to be all for it too- can I get the full 30 pieces or is it prorated by distance?
