The Senate on Tuesday rejected an attempt to bar using funds from a defense spending bill to build or modify prisons in the United States to hold detainees from Guantanamo Bay, a move that suggested congressional Democrats may be lining up behind President Obama's vision for closing the military prison.

The Senate vote, largely along party lines, came days after the administration announced plans to bring five alleged terrorists, including Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the self-proclaimed mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, to New York for trial. The GOP-backed measure was attached to a $134 billion plan that funded programs for veterans and military construction. The overall bill was passed unanimously.

Yet again they add to a bill that deals with veterans and military so that it put's a burden on those that if they don't vote than the defense spending bill does not pass.

So, earlier in the year they had a backbone and now the dems are following into line of Obama.

Why the hell can they not pass a stand alone bill if they believe in it so much. They did with hate crimes and now this and next spring it will be "don't ask don't tell", I am getting sick and tired of their progressive ideaology. If it is so important try it without putting other folks in a horrible possistion.

Ticked off in the heartland!!!

It’d be a lot easier simply to put the terrorists up at a hotel somwhere, with room service, recreational facilities, a heated swimming pool, cable TV, and so on.

They - and their supporters - would still complain, of course, but, really, until a palace is built to house them, they’ll probably have to anticipate a modicum of inconvenience and discomfort.

Gracie Mansion in Manhattan would be an excellent resting place for the terrorists.

Mayor Bloomers can assure them they’ll get all the amenities including high tea every afternoon.
