It was a moment of unintentional comedy earlier this year when newly appointed U.S. Sen. George LeMieux called himself a " Charlie Crist Republican." No doubt LeMieux spoke in earnest about the man who appointed him to the Senate, and who is now running to succeed him in it. But the joke was that nobody knew what he meant.
What is a "Charlie Crist Republican" anyway?
Honestly, do you know how Charlie Crist would vote on a federal takeover of health care, on a cap-and-trade energy tax, on massive new spending bills, or on another stimulus boondoggle?

I’m not sure, but I think it’s the same thing as a Log Cabin republican.
In one of his closets h is a demcrap. The other...well...
Put simply, Marco Rubio believes the federal government is too big, so he will fight to make it smaller. He believes Congress takes too much of your money and spends it foolishly, so he will bring real change and reform to Washington. He believes politicians make for terrible businessmen, doctors, automobile engineers, and bankers, so they should not take over Wall Street, health care, car companies, and banks. He believes that free people make better decisions about their own money and their own lives than politicians ever could.
There's no way to know if Charlie Crist believes that, or anything else.
A Crist Republican is somebody who believes in getting elected...and little else.
you’re too fast there....certainly right on the money
A Crist Republican is somebody who believes in getting elected...and little else.
That is an excellent way of putting it. A moniker widely applicable, "Crist Republican".
Tragically it describes too many Republicans, and why I advocate a conservative third party. I have a common sense conservative friend who has said for a long time, "at least I know what the Democrats stand for."
“a Log Cabin republican.”
They frequently are fiscal conservatives unlike Crist.
I believe it is easier to steer the GOP towards conservatism than start a whole new party. Look at the Fla. primary, a conservative vs a political "null set" like Crist.
A Jim McGreevey Republican.
Charlie is a leftist that is in denial so he hides behind the curtain of being a Republican (Wizard of Oz?). Charlie is itching to come out of the closet and admit he is a Democrat. Big problem is he is unlikely to get elected as a liberal Democrat in Florida, so the charade goes on.
“A Crist Republican is somebody who believes in getting elected...and little else.”
Sorry, don’t agree. If that were the case, he’d be a conservative, since conservatives outnumber liberals 2 to 1. Actually, it’s someone who has strong beliefs, they just happen to be, in many (if not most) cases, the other side’s platform.
Gay.
