Amber Cummings, charged with murdering her husband last December, has pleaded guilty to domestic violence manslaughter and will spend at most one year in prison.
The 31-year-old Cummings entered her plea before Justice Jeffrey Hjelm in Knox County Superior Court in Rockland on Friday. Under the terms of the plea agreement, Cummings was sentenced to eight years in prison with all but one year suspended and six years probation.

Before any of you jump to conclusions, first READ - and know this. This woman very possible saved us from a horrific terrorist attack with a WMD in DC.
They say they can't release most of the details of the materials found at the house, however - this happened just down the road from me and most everything was in our little local paper.
Unbelievable.
Her husband lived off a multi-million dollar trust fund...
Information on the chemicals and details they won't release now were in the intial news reports last year, excerpt:
" State police records filed in court show that investigators found chemicals - including uranium - and plans to build a dirty bomb at the High Street home of the Cummingses. The wife also noted that her husband had Neo-Nazi extremist views.
.... In addition to four, 5-gram containers of uranium, police also found thorium, beryllium, boron, lithium metal, aluminum powder, black iron oxide, magnesium ribbons, and four gallons of hydrogen peroxide."

The woman deserves a medal. And where was homeland security, the FBI, et al? Should they have not gotten a clue as to why this man was purchasing these chemicals andin this combination = dirty bomb ingredients? (Try buying and installing some grow lights for your plants and they'll swoop down on you.)
Hey Laz, here's an interesting one. Not bad looking, some say she's a patriot, a little damaged/abused, does come with a risky precedent.
Holy crapoly.....Had not heard about any of this prior to this posting. this guy was a realbad guy. Only questions are where did he get the stuff? and who provided him with funding?
She shouldn’t have been charged at all
I had not heard about this story either. She really should not have to spend even one day in jail.
He collected military artifacts, flak jackets, ammo, etc. and he had a bunch of DEPLETED uranium that anyone can buy in the commercial metals markets. Nothing illegal, nothing harmful, unless you filled a sack with it and whacked someone over the head.
He just loved collecting that junk.
Believe me, by these standards half the freepers that subscribe to the BANG list and collect military cr@p would be “potential terrorists.”
He PURCHASED the stuff - he lived off a trust fund from his father - over a million a year.
So the question begs, if you buy a stick of dynamite or grow lights - it's REPORTED.
Is not this stuff?
Thanks. We have summered on Islesboro for the past 60 years, so I know the area well.
Typical that the state, or maybe the FBI, refused to release any of this information even though the guy is dead so there will be no trial. Evidently someone leaked it in fairness to this woman.
I’d call it self defense. He was a nutcase terrorist, he abused his wife, and he threatened to kill his wife and daughter. Plus he had two weapons ready to hand when he slept. She was as good as s prisoner in her own house, with the child as a hostage.
Did you read both newspaper accounts?
Other than being on the scene at the time, how much more details do you need?
Geez...sounds like a movie of the week. It’s even got child porn...yecchh.
Ingredients for thermite, perfectly legal, search youtube there about a thousand videos of people making that stuff in their backyards and burning up fry pans and blowing up propane tanks. It's the American (redneck) way.
Why did he have stuff like this? Who cares?
Why do I have an M-1 Garand? Because I CAN.
When it happened, I watched and waited for to hit the national news. After all, this guy was building a dirty bomb that he was planning on setting off in Washington DC! Would that not qualify as national news - topical - and fit the "Peoples Right to Know"?
Never a peep.
Which makes me nervous - wondering what else is going on that we don't hear about.
Well, I would have shot him for the child porn.
The rest of the stuff was just her claims about what he said, and some testimony from a psychiatrist-for-hire.
A million bucks a year from a trust fund indicates a pretty large trust. Who is his dad? And why was this guy engaged in terroist activities? I want to know if he had any leanings like T. McVeigh, who though portrayed as a loyal nutcase American, really had spent way too much time with Abu Saayef to be anything other than a lily white patsy for the Islamists.
He didn't commit any terrorist activities, and didn't take one step toward constructing a bomb.
He had TONS of military and wierd crap. He was an eccentric collector. Nutty, and should have been put away for child porn, but the "terrorist" bit is nonsense.
Probably safe to assume he continued sleeping.
right- nothing to see here -
you also say: "If this gay was anything other than an eccentric collector you can bet homeland security would have been all over it.
Right! Just like they were all over the jihardist Hassan.
I see talk shows and the lecture circuit in her future as an activist. God bless her and her child. May she never suffer a moment of moral remorse (although the practical consequences are steep) for ridding the world of a scumbag nutcase.
How did he have "all the ingredients for a dirty bomb"? He had DEPLETED uranium.
What did he have or do that was illegal?
You're probably one of those people that would see a .22 on the sidewalk and call 911. The whole "terrorist" bit was a construct of the wife's AFTER she blew his brains out. Why didn't she grab the kid and run and call homeland security? Because they would have looked at his collection of cr@p and laughed at her.
She killed him, and got her attorney to makethese provokative leaks and make it seem like having an eccentric collection of perfectly legal and harmless stuff was the terrorist act of the century.
Come on. Get you head out of your b&tt and look at the facts here.
Then I'd shackle it.
