McCain asks aides not to rebut Palin (as McCainiacs continue to attack her)
NBC / The Hill, Washington, DC ^ | 2009-11-16 | Eric Zimmermann

John McCain has asked his former campaign aides not to speak out against the charges Sarah Palin levels in her book, NBC news reports.

This news comes after a number of former staffers anonymously blasted Palin's recount of the 2008 campaign.

"John McCain offered her the opportunity of a lifetime, and during the campaign it seems that, for all of her mistakes, she is searching for people to blame," an aide said last week. "We don't need to go through this again."

Even as NBC reported McCain's request, they included another swipe at her book from a former campaign aide.

"It is unrecognizable at every instance. There is not one truthful account as it relates to any conversation I ever had with her," the aide said.

McLame offered her an “opportunity of a lifetime”? What...the opportunity to be muzzled and made ridiculous in a pathetic attempt to impress the MODERATE vote??!! How did that tactic work out for you, Juan? Palin was the ONLY top notch part of your so called campaign.

And it wasn't Palin, who decided to suspend the campaign, run back to Washington to save the economy and prompting disappear and say nothing. It wasn't Palin who decided to back TARP. It wasn't Palin who didn't want to attack Obama during the campaign. It wasn't Palin, who ran the campaign, came up with the strategy for the campaign and carried out that ... ahem, losing ... strategy.

Yup, the fix was in as soon as McCain decided that spending 700 billion bucks on a Democrat scheme deserved his support.

All of this has made me think we only had one party running for president in 2008, the liberal dem party.

I think mccain was supposed to lose. We would all think we had a race but it was fixed before the race was run.

When mccain picked Sarah Palin I don’t think he did it to win. But she threw a horse shoe into the mix and turned everything upside down. She has that special something that made us all set up and say, this woman is speaking for me. She is saying what I believe in!

mccains aids were working for the liberal ticket, Palin was the only one working for our conservative side.

A friend of mine was in a Restaurant during the campaign when McCain came in with his “team”. My friend said there wasn't a single one of them that looked over 35 years old. That's when I knew McCain was doomed for sure...no depth in his bench.

It is so sad that there are so many people who have been so dumbed down they will believe anything that smacks of any sort of scandal. How can our country be anything but mediocre under theSe circumstances?

God gave us a wonderful and unique system, and Satan has destroyed it much as I wrote in this poem in l967:

SURGERS BEWARE

Look, Ahriman rides a common wave
in cunning masquerade.
He snares, csajoles thre Godly grave,
and rapes with greed the untouched maid.
His traps are fur lined, brass pin hinged,
bare brown skined skin his lure.
Mood music, Satanic tinged,
hypnotic rest assure.
On and on it throbs, mindlessly cavorting.
The reason for your lives is dead
for all his hand supporting,
As Ahriman has you dance instead.

c. mlw

We are in a full blown spiritual war, make no mistake. May our wondrous triune God help His own.

"John Mccain has aids?"

Nah. More like "mad cow". His brain obviously went spongy a long time ago.

Yes, McCain is trying to aid himself by cutting off the exposure of the incompetent, petty staff he had running his campaign. He’s sayin’ “enough with the lying now. We are going to get caught.”

I continue to ask: why do news outlets report anonymous quotes? Aside from the fact that they feed on scoops, I mean. Have they no shame? Unless the source’s life/livelihood is in danger, it’s nothing more than gossip.

I agree that McCain was not supposed to win and that’s why he won the primary.

However, I think he picked Palin to win. McCain, for all of his warts, loves this country, the principles upon which is was founded, and her people.

Congress is hostile territory these days. Look what has happened in past years to ‘true conservative’ types. If they had any blip in their character or behavior they were excoriated in the media and summarily shunned by the party, left with no alternative but to fall on their sword and retire from the field of battle.

McCain although he seemed tired at times, carried on, against insurmountable odds [remember NH?] Don’t you remember him saying, ‘fight, fight for her’ [the US] during the campaign? Even in the last days prior to the election, they were gaining. If the election was a week later...the outcome may well have been different.

For him to come out and tell the ‘aides’ aka Romneybot plants, to pipe down is an honorable act. If he was a weasel, he’d keep mum.

Just my 2 cents...

Good insights, Pallis.

I think he knew from the outset what he was up against, but carried on. However, from a $$ standpoint, he was short and the Romney ‘gift’ was hard to refuse. Truthfully, had it gone the other way, I believe McCain would be shocked, horrified, and ashamed if his folks worked against the candidate.

Even though I believe he’s savvy in some ways, I believe that circumstance [$$] and a naive integrity that perhaps assumes others will be for Team USA, regardless of the candidate, are shortcomings [and the political reality] that he is beginning to acknowledge.

Thing is, really decent folks wouldn’t have taken a paying job to support a candidate, only to work to undermine them. ...sadly, it would appear that some in the support/punditry class are simply turning tricks. Then again, some willingly sell state secrets for a pittance due to ideology or greed. Really repugnant behavior.

Hope Schmidt and Wallace remain gainfully unemployed...for a long, long time.

Yuck.

No sane Republican should ever hire Steve Schmidt or any other McCain staffer for their campaign. They not only have no class but simply do no know when to shut up, a mandatory skill for a campaign operative. If Bill Clinton or Barack Obama was surrounded by low-grade morons who blathered to the press like these fools, they would never have been elected.

Palin has a right to finally defend herself against these aides who threw her under the bus as quickly as they could. McCain should back her up, her won’t and this is his way of appearing above the fray.

Now, we have McCain telling his campaign aides not to go after Palin. Ah, why didn’t he say this during the campaign? Why didn’t he tell his aides to shut up, when they went after Palin right after the election? McCain, Senator Weasel, allowed those attacks to go on. Too little, too late Juan McAmnesty.
