I was a supporter of both the Afghanistan invasion and the Iraq war.
I believed then, following the Sept. 11 attacks, that it was a matter of national security to hand Islamic terrorists stunning defeats in their own backyards.
Even a year ago, I would have said bringing the troops home prematurely would be tantamount to surrender to an enemy determined to do us in.
But that was then. This is now.
Things have changed and changed dramatically.
The biggest change is one in America's leadership.
I do not believe Barack Obama is capable of achieving anything remotely resembling victory in either Iraq or Afghanistan at least not victory for the United States of America.
A president incapable of recognizing that war came home Nov. 5 at Fort Hood is certainly incapable of waging foreign wars.
A president incapable of recognizing that terrorists are among us could never be counted on to do the right thing in remote places like Afghanistan and Iraq.
A president whose own worst enemies are the Republican Party, Fox News Channel and the tea party movement couldn't possibly ever understand the nature of real combat.
It's time to bring the troops home now!

I guess the question is whether we can try to stumble along until we retake congress and then the White House, or whether it’s better to get out now.
I have frequently said that IF you are going to fight a war, then you had better be determined to win it. No more LBJ loser micromanagement.
Our troops are suffering under deadly Rules of Engagement that give our enemies all the advantages, and subject them to Court Martial whenever they fight back.
Possibly it’s worth while hanging on until we can change our leadership. There really are no good choices at this juncture. If we pull out, it will be very hard to go back when we need to in the future. If we stay in and continue to lose to no purpose, it will set people against the war just as LBJ did in Vietnam. And either way, we are signalling the enemy that we are feeble pushovers, just as Clinton did in the Horn of Africa.

If there is no committment to win the war if Afghanistan...then there is no need to keep troops there.
If we had real leadership (not only from Omuslim, but also from Bush The Globalist) we would have won Afghan. easily. Too much “Islam is a religion of peace” crap, and not enough committment to win from the civilian leadership.
Unlease our Troops and allow them to fight with all their might or bring them home. Don’t tie their hands any longer.
Absolutely right. It’s criminally unfair to put Americans in harms way when their Commander in Chief is:

2) An Enemy Sympathizer
3) A Blithering Idiot

Why should Obama, a muslim, want to achieve an American victory over a muslim nation? Have we already forgotten his statement, uttered even before the election, that when push comes to shove he will side with Islam?
If the imbeciles who think bringing the troops home is an answer, they are in for more death and expense
The IslamOfascists who are in America and the millions who are in Europe will have the green light to finish off what
was done on 9/11 and in other parts of the world in the recent years.
The terrorists who flew the plane into the Pentagon lived 6 miles from me here in San Diego.
The Imam Anwar al-Awlake who was the Imam here at one of the mosques here and was attending San Diego St. Univ. for one of his degrees.
This same Imam is was also the same Imam for the Ft. Hood Terrorist Hasan and the one he e-mailed 20+ times the past year.
This same Imam helped with the Ft. Dix and Toronto plots.
Now, this is just a few, There are many who have been picked up and there are millions here and in Europe.
There were those who thought in the 1930s if you left Hitler alone he would be nice and not bother you.
We know how that worked out because people didn’t want to stop him early so stopping him later cost millions of more people and billions of more dollars.
Only this time there won’t be a later. Stop them where they are, take the fight to them not waite until they are taking out our cities and the country as a whole.
I have many family members who have been in this war from the start and are still in the fight.
Farah has defined the problem. Bring them home.
Obama doesn’t want to bring them home. Imagine the soaring unemployment rate from those returning soldiers trying to re-enter the workforce.
Nor does he want to escalate the war. It will turn his far-left supporters against him.
He’s placed himself in a no-win polical situation, and he’s looking for the option that will provide him with the most political cover.
Never thought I’d say it: “Bring ‘em home, NOW! The more immediate enemy is here!”

Any retreat would be temporary.
And futile.
And there may be silver linings, a Return to Afghanistan and/or Pakistan under President Petraeus.
I am not a fan of Joseph Farah or his WND but I must admit when he has a valid point and that it pretty well follows my thinking. Either go whole hog (anti-Islamic pun intended) or get out. Unfortunately, the follow-on attitude needed for this to succeed is not evident any more than a desire for real victory. The follow-on attitude should be: OK, we got out of your country/crap-hole corner of the world so you can go about your business but don’t let another al-Qaeda get a foothold to attack the US — you don’t want to know the consequences of failure. A word to the wise should be sufficient...
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS AND GIVE THEM THE SUPPORT THEIR COMMANDERS REQUEST. AND DO IT NOW!
