Anyone who would slam a piglet against a wall for entertainment would be more likely to abuse a little girl than someone who recognizes how wrong it is to torture for entertainment.
You know, I find that argument without merit. How do you know that if someone did something to an animal that they wouldn't need to do it to a person? For instance, if you are hungry for a steak, but eat some other food instead, are you not left full, not desiring the steak?
Pop psychology goes both ways.

The fact is that kids who torture animals are more likely to become murderers. Many murderers, especially serial murderers, started by torturing animals.
Animals suffer pain and fear. Anyone who doesn’t see this is sick in the head.
