You could as easily say that “people who wish to be effective” use multiple shots. Similarily, people who wish to kill with a knife tend to stab and slash multiple times. It takes time for a person to bleed out from knife wounds, usually more than 30 seconds. While this is happening, they can still struggle, during which time they are stabbed and slashed multiple time to insure their demise.
Most gangsta types are not effective shooters. I see them shoot. You’re correct that a trained shooter will fire multiple shots. My personal plan is to stop firing when my muzzle is pointed at the ground. The possibility of a trained shooter leads to another question.

A knife attack really wasn’t a good analogy. I used it to illustrate the anger involved. Knife fights seem to involve a lot of passion.
