Sarah Palin: Really? Still Making Things Up?
Sarah Palin of Facebook ^ | November 15, 2009 | Sarah Palin

The book tour starts this week, and I look forward to it! I'm most looking forward to meeting many of you, shaking your hands, and telling you,"Thanks for loving America." I'll give you a scoop here and tell you what's on the book's Dedication Page – it's dedicated to you – Patriots – who love the U.S.A. as much as I do.

Amazingly, but not surprisingly, the AP somehow nabbed a copy of the book before it was released. They're now erroneously reporting on the book's contents and are repeating many of the same things they spewed during the campaign and afterwards. We've heard 11 writers are engaged in this opposition research, er, "fact checking" research! Imagine that – 11 AP reporters dedicating time and resources to tearing up the book, instead of using the time and resources to "fact check" what's going on with Sheik Mohammed's trial, Pelosi's health care takeover costs, Hassan's associations, etc. Amazing.

We'll keep setting the record straight, and we'll keep reminding some in the media that Americans are very tired of their non-objective reporting. A great, recent post that accomplishes this is a Conservatives4Palin post. It's got some nice fact checking included. As always, they did a great job holding some of the media accountable for spreading more misinformation and for making things up. You can read it here. Enjoy!

And I can't wait to see you! God bless the fight for freedom! Keep up the great work, Patriots who love this country.

Oh, give the AP weenies a break already. I mean, after all, they HAD to have crawled through Obama’s creative writings...er...books with the same zeal, fact-checking vigorously while seeking the truth, uncovering lies, and verifying the accuracy and validity of his writings.

um..........no, wait.............

Love the fact someone on our side is so quick and agile a PR counter puncher in responding to the gutter slime attacks in the Media.

That was one of the biggest mistakes made during McCain’s campaign. When Palin first hit the media during the convention, it went over great, Then they backed off alowing the media to get back up and counter.

I have been a fence-sitter when it comes to Palin, but I have to agree with you there.

It was a grave miscalculation by President Bush to let the increasingly unsubstantiated, vile, and psychotic assertions go unanswered throughout his presidency; I think the level of liberal scumbag hatred for the man would have been considerably less if his administration would have addressed some of the more outrageous claims made, and demonstrated how ridiculous some of the outright lies really were.

I think Palin is making a mistake going on ‘the usual’ book tour.

Book sales are through the roof- she doesn’t need to promote it- and she should tell all the usual media outlets to stuff it.

Oprah was a mistake- but at least it does not sound like she ‘Perky Katie’d’ her

And I love the way Palin said she went on Perky’s show BECAUSE SHE FELT SORRY FOR HER !!! HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!

I read the “fact check” from AP. I can’t find one instance where AP is right. The “imply” a lot and twist words. It took 11 “reporters” to do this and they couldn’t come up with crap. Man, the left is afraid of her!

She has a contract with her publisher to promote the book on the "book tour" and the media. There isn't such a thing as "enough sold".

Beside that people want and need to see and hear her. The more she is on the stage, the better for her politically.

And this book tour is quite unusual, as she is avoiding the major cities in favor of smaller places and battleground states. She is connecting with average America and preparing the ground for 2012, no doubt.

“It was a grave miscalculation by President Bush to let the increasingly unsubstantiated, vile, and psychotic assertions go unanswered throughout his presidency”

Very puzzling indeed. Bush had two heavyweight punchers in Cheney and John Bolton who could have bloodied the noses of the fascist propagandists.

The book tour gives her a chance to travel across the whole continental United States on someone else's dime, meet people face-to-face, give talks to groups. It's a great political opportunity/strategy. The popularity of the book enhances the political possibilities of the tour.

I think you are missing the point. You are absolutely correct in that she does not need to go on a bus tour to sell the book, but I don’t think that is her purpose.

She is getting out there on the bus to meet Americans. All kinds of Americans. She is going to make personal connections with thousands of people who will be backbone of her grassroots campaign when she runs for President in 2012.

She is building a network, through Facebook and things like this bus tour that does not depend on the GOP machinery. Something I think is a very wise idea.

I think Palin is making a mistake going on ‘the usual’ book tour.

But it's not 'the usual' book tour...it's obviously a campaign tour designed to both gauge the public reaction and to stick her finger in Obama's eye. She's starting out in Michigan, a state which McCain forbid her from visiting during the campaign and Obama easily won, and then doing book signings in more middle class environments rather than in the big liberal cities. There is a very deliberate strategy at work here, and one I think is brilliant.

As for Oprah, for one thing, her book contract probably required it, and secondly, she's making her pitch to Oprah's mostly female audience. From accounts so far (without seeing the final edited product), the interview went very well.

Well you are a private citizen now and I would think the defamation law would apply here.

Generally speaking, defamation is the issuance of a false statement about another person, which causes that person to suffer harm. Slander involves the making of defamatory statements by a transitory (non-fixed) representation, usually an oral (spoken) representation. Libel involves the making of defamatory statements in a printed or fixed medium, such as a magazine or newspaper.

Typically, the elements of a cause of action for defamation include:

A false and defamatory statement concerning another;
The unprivileged publication of the statement to a third party (that is, somebody other than the person defamed by the statement);

If the defamatory matter is of public concern, fault amounting at least to negligence on the part of the publisher; and Damage to the plaintiff.

They key word was ALMOST.

She writes at length about Couric. She says that the idea to meet with Couric came from McCain campaign aide Nicolle Wallace, who told Palin that Couric - also a working mother - liked and admired her. It would be a favor to Couric, too, whom Palin notes had the lowest ratings of the network anchors. Wallace said Couric suffered from low self-esteem. And Palin replied that she almost began to “feel sorry” for Couric.

She alleges that Couric and CBS left out her more “substantive” remarks and settled for “gotcha” moments. She writes that Couric had a “partisan agenda” and a condescending manner.

‘...grave miscalculation by President Bush to let the increasingly unsubstantiated, vile, and psychotic assertions go unanswered throughout his presidency’. Did GWB actually believe his own compassionate conservatice BS on which he campaigned?
IIRC, GWB had helped his father’s losing campaign against BJC as well as spent some time as TX Governor, a RedState with weak governor....
I think GWB was actually not real good material for CiC though better than BJ, Gore or Kerry!

Well that's all well and good...except we already own most of those areas. See the last election map.

Certain states like Ohio, MI and PA might be good...oh yeah, and Illinois.
