Obama Urges Congress To Put Off Fort Hood Probe [!!!]

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama on Saturday urged Congress to hold off on any investigation of the Fort Hood rampage until federal law enforcement and military authorities have completed their probes into the shootings at the Texas Army post, which left 13 people dead.

On an eight-day Asia trip, Obama turned his attention home and pleaded for lawmakers to "resist the temptation to turn this tragic event into the political theater." He said those who died on the nation's largest Army post deserve justice, not political stagecraft.

"The stakes are far too high," Obama said in a video and Internet address released by the White House while the president he was flying from Tokyo to Singapore, where Pacific Rim countries were meeting.

"Let the military and FBI handle it first."

Both those bureaucracies take their direction from the White House, and both have had much to cover up in the past on various issues. Both blew it in reviewing Hasan's behavior before this happened. - This should be investigated by a truly independent commission, but that won't happen.

No way should the FBI and the military be allowed to investigate this alone. And both those bureaucracies have had their "cultural sensitivity" training which facilitated this atrocity in the first place. Congress and a few independent thinkers is the best hope for some tough questioning about Fort Hood in the immediate future.

“resist the temptation to turn this tragic event into the political theater”

In order to not compete with the political theater Eric Holder and “me” plan for KSM in New York.

“Put off the probe?”

That’s standard procedure when trying to cover your ass. Putting it off allows everyone “to get their stories right.”

I would actually say he is not very smart at all. he is and always has been a puppet.

if you strip him of the teleprompter, the ever-supporting and fawning media, etc. what have you got?

Yes, his entire administration, and all of his employees ;-)

Congress can’t convict and order the murder’s execution. All they can do is add to pretrial publicity and pull investigators off the job.
Political Correctness in the Medical Corps allowed him to get as far as he did. That won’t happen with the investigative services, remember - few in the Medical Corps are actually “real military” except for combat medics and corpsmen. Their job is to save lives, not kill and destroy.

A useful one. Consider that his tenure in Chicago was under the radar. Now, he is under more scrutiny - not from the MSM, but from the American people.

Shriveling in the sunlight!

Having watched a fair number of ‘congressional investigation hearings’ (when I used to have access to CSPAN) which consisted entirely of supposedly adult ‘representatives of the people’ posturing, preening, speechifying, and generally behaving like five-year-olds, I can almost sympathize with Obama’s position....

I'd go along with that if you meant sympathize with "a President's position", in the generic sense, where there could be an assunption of some base level of loyalty to the US of A, no matter how inept or wrong-headed that loyalty may be applied. But this is Obama.

Yes, the Congress will preen and posture and politicize. It will be nauseating. But the lead up to that sideshow is of great value. Right now, the single most important thing is the preservation of evidence. A Congressional investigation puts into motion legal processes that preserves essential evidence. This administration and this congress might not have the will or the intent to follow it wherever it leads, but there's a big world of truth lovers who can and will--as long as the evidence trail isn't scrubbed.

UNBELIEVABLE. Meanwhile, BamBam relishes the political theater he's going to create in NYC.

Is it a federal offense to say you want to puke on the president? Just wondering out loud what the limits are.

Yeah, we heard from the real military, non-medical corps personnel in the form of General Casey (and he's still Chief of Staff). Don't kid yourself that the government investigative services are independent. Remember the '20th hijacker' and the FBI's refusal to allow a field office to fully investigate him and his laptop. And why were charges dropped in the voter intimidation case in Philadelphia, after all the investigative work had been done, and the accused failed to even reply to the court?

There is no shortage of evidence to convict Hasan, and as it stands he'll be tried by the military. But the questions of why no action was ever taken concerning his behavior will not be investigated honestly by the very bureaucracies that were responsible for evaluating him before he murdered 14 people.

These 'investigative services' are part of bureaucracies that report to the White House. They are not independent. They specialize in covering their own asses. The only hope for independent inquiry into this atrocity for now is a few independent Senators or Reps in congressional hearings. And that's what Obama wants to avoid.
