It goes without saying that Republicans must, foremost, win new minority voters.

They won't win them by being Dem-lite. But minority voters do not prefer conservative principles, as reflected in their voting patterns. They are into the entitlement mentality, affirmative action, the victim mentality, and avoidance of personal responsibility in favor of larger government that distributes benefits through social programs. They still have the Great Society mentality.

And that doesnt make them receptive to real conservatism.

If John McCain had won 60% of the white vote rather than 55%, he would be President today. If the Reps don't change our existing immigration policies, they will be the permanent minority party. 87% of the 1.2 million LEGAL immigrants who enter this country are minorities. Minorities and immigrants vote mostly Dem.
