Crist or Rubio for Pawlenty?
Minn Independent | 11/13/09 | Paul Demko

Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s 2012 presidential exploratory tour hits Florida today. There he could face a politically tricky question: Will he back Florida Gov. Charlie Crist or conservative darling Marco Rubio in next year’s U.S. Senate contest?

Crist was initially expected to easily win the Republican nomination. But he’s come under attack from conservative activists for supporting President Obama’s stimulus package. Earlier this week, the Club for Growth announced its support for Rubio and launched a television ad attacking Crist.

Pawlenty could be gun shy about wading into local political battles after his experience pontificating about the recent congressional contest in upstate New York. T-Paw backed conservative stalwart Doug Hoffman over the GOP-endorsed candidate, only to see the district won by a Democrat for the first time in more than a century. Pawlenty has since taken some knocks from national pundits for too blatantly pandering to the conservative base.

Florida Democrats are looking to put Pawlenty on the spot. In a press release, state party chair Karen Thurman called on him to make his allegiance in the senate contest known.

THe smart RINOS like Pawlenty and Perry know that they have to talk a good game of pretending to be conservative. BOth will endorse Rubio, I reckon.

I predict Pawlenty will say, “I have no idea that FL has a Senate race next year. I need more time to study the candidates.”

I remember last summer when Pawlenty was being mentioned as a possible VP pick by McCain. There was an article in TIME magazine about this.

Here's an article:

What's he doing down in Florida? He's still got a deer to track from last weekend!

Pawlenty Shoots Buck, But Struggles To Find It

Should have been huntin' on my Grandpa's land. T-Paw would be busy every morning over the next few years looking for his wounded buck , he would never have time to even think of 2012 :)

I think you're right, he will go with Rubio.

Yep, you’re right on the money. Not only that, but it won’t be held against them by Crist or any other RINOs regardless of who wins. It’s understood that they have to say such things to appeal to us rubes who don’t know any better.

"Pretending" for so many years is precisely what has presented RINOs with such a dilemma, and it is long overdue. The nation is hanging by a thread, and "pretending" provides no solutions.

It is going to be difficult for RINOs to convince voters they have suddenly discovered their roots and developed principles. That's OK. We have 300 million people in this country. Certainly we can find a thousand or so to hold office who can't possibly mess things up any worse than current office holders have done.

Pawlenty will refuse to get in the middle of local matters and petty little Crist will be very pissed that Pawlenty did not give his support to him.

We already have a Messiah in the White House.

We don’t need a Crist as Governor of Florida.

Pawlenty should not be backed by ANY means of the GOP. This RINO is McCains twin. Pawlenty increased FEEs across the board for this state, and by calling them FEEs, he wouldn’t be raising TAXES. Pawlenty is NOT Conservative, he is a MIDDLE-OF-THE-ROAD-REPUBLICAN.

Preach it from the roof tops, neighbor! {we're next door, WI}

I don’t have any knowledge on who Palin will endorse in this race, but from past experiences, it’s a no-brainer...Marco Rubio.

Unfortunately we HAVE him, needed or not. The question is, do we need a Crist as Senator from Florida.

Who's picking our candidate? Before McCain picked Palin for VP nobody in the party or the base was talking her up as the 2nd coming of Reagan. Now anyone not named Palin is a RINO and she's the 2nd coming of Christ.

"Who's picking our candidate?"

The Republican Establishment.
Not, "Conservatives."

"Before McCain picked Palin for VP nobody in the party or the base was talking her up as the 2nd coming of Reagan."

Don't know about the party, or base. Nor will I speak for whoeverinthehell they are.
But *I* had heard of Sarah Palin, and before McLame chose her.
I'd thought most political junkies take the time to track, be informed concerning matters such as overall fiscal health of all the states? Would've knew of Sarah's performance, her successes were no secret.

OTOH if one listened to the MSM for their info, who knows? LOL

*I* happen to feel Sarah Palin is precisely what the republic needs, at the Right time. Whether or not the republic feels the same is what'll have to be contested.
No?

"Now anyone not named Palin is a RINO and she's the 2nd coming of Christ."

Now-now, go ahead & tell Landru all about it.
Express your beliefs & be done with it. I'll listen.
Just don't have an aneurysm on us for crying out loud.
Your vote's badly needed. LOL

Say. You sound like you've been abused? LOL

{got a live one here, steph...}

Good thing for you I can still read the fine print ;-)

I’ll go with DeMint/Palin at this precise moment.......subject to change without notice.

I’ve seen and heard Marco..up close, at length. He is the REAL DEAL..smart, polished, intelligent, articulate, and photogenic. Crist is toast. he just doesn’t know it yet..when the polls tighten, as they will..Crist will be forced to debate Marco, and that will be like killing baby seals..no contest..
