They were fine (except 1 out of the 5) and it took 2 guys to hold him down to give him the shot...He wasn't against THAT shot, he hated needles and still does to this day.

I believe it is a true phobia.

I had to get one of my anthrax series shots last year in the Green Zone (Baghdad.) My wait at the CASH seemed longer than usual. Finally, a somewhat pale, but big, young strapping Marine left the little office and I was ushered in for my shot.

The medic apologized for the wait by explaining that the Marine had passed out cold after the needle went in. He said that it's not unusual...there are perfectly healthy, stable, brave adults who are petrified of needles.

My son that hates needles spent 9 years active Air Force, and I don't know how many years reserve. He must have gotten use to needles, they didn't chase him out of the military...:O)

He was only 10 when he got the shot that took 2 guys to hold him down, he gave them a good fight and had a great pair of lungs...I laughed, but poor hubby was embarrassed. Hey, that's my boy......I expected it as I had been the one that took him to the doctor for all his shots...

He made no fuss waiting in line, and walked into the room fine, then he saw the needle and POW he went ballistic..
