The prevailing Islamic thinking is that serving in infidel armies is forbidden unless the intent is to weaken or to subvert them. The fatwas make it absolutely clear beyond all shadow of a doubt the Muslim's first obligation is to Islam and the Koran and only after that to the country in which he lives. In other words, loyalty to Islam in all cases supersedes loyalty to the nation-state.
