WASHINGTON - Big dog Bill Clinton barked at Democratic senators on Capitol Hill on Tuesday, telling them to pass health care reform now because it's good politics - and good for the economy.
"Every year...we write a check to all of our economic competitors for 800 or 900 billion dollars," Clinton said later, referring to how much American firms must pay for health care while foreign firms do not. "And they cover everybody."Clinton, still regretting his own failure to pass reform in 1993, privately told senators not to make the same mistakes he and Hillary Clinton did, and to push hard instead of backing off.
"It is the right thing for America," he added. "The worst thing to do is nothing."
And forget getting it perfect, just aim for passage, he advised. "It's not important to be perfect here, it's important to act, to move, to start the ball rolling," he said.
He promised to back them up, too, which could help wavering red state senators like Blanche Lincoln, who faces a tough election in Bubba's old home state of Arkansas. "Whatever they can get the votes for, I'm gonna support," he declared. "I think it is good politics to pass this and pass it as soon as they can."
"His No. 1 message was, 'You have to succeed, you cannot fail in this effort,'" said New York Sen. Chuck Schumer. "I thought the membership was inspired by it."
New Jersey Sen. Frank Lautenberg called the talk "a lesson in Economics 105, and a soul-charger for all of us."

The 'dog' part is correct. Like the prune-faced, imbecilic Carter, this clown just won't shut up!
He’s probably trolling the Senate for interns..
Actually the Horn Dog was half right...Senators should not make the same mistake Hillary did, they should simply never vote on it at all, and bury it like they should have 99% of the laws they've passed in the last 40 years!
800 billion goes a long way..anyone ask what he got paid?
OMG, the economic ignorance displayed in this sentence is STUNNING. WTH does he think the money comes from?
Surely even Bill Clinton isn't THIS stupid? In any sane country he would be literally laughed out of the country. Any time anyone ever again calls a Republican President stupid, this quote needs to be jammed down their throats, HARD.
And Senator Lautenberg called Clinton’s talk a “lesson in Economics 105”!!! LOL!!!!
Gotta remember he was addressing an audience that is that stupid. He was just being a typical salesman..
The Clinton duo leads the pack in stupidity.
Many sycophantic shills screech about what a savvy president Clinton was and what a great Secretary of State his -itchy wife is.
When one analyzes what these two say, unless the analyzer is stupid as well, what one comes up with is a prattle by a newsspeak nincompoop!
Obummer, of course, is the same type of boring socialist Democrat.
I am glad they are dragging him out — so the Senators remember what happened the last time they tried this!! But how stupid to compare America to “our competitors” with single-payer plans. Sure Norway is single payer—and has 4 million people, totally homogeneous, almost every single one of them 6 feet tall blond and blue-eyed. European countries with single payer also have rationing, much smaller populations, etc. No country in the world has our mix of different types of people and religions and economic opportunity-—America is different, but the liberal Dems can’t stand it!
Yes, he that stupid.
If this man and his ilk had to bottle up their bullspin as to sell it to an investor they would last no more than five minutes and be shown the door, that is an honest investor.
Lautenberg, another Democrat socialist ninnyhammer, should have said that Clinton’s ‘talk’ was a lesson in Economics 666.
The aging, decrepit old bas-ard resembles his reprobate father more each passing day.
I swear Clinton has dementia or extremely ‘off his game’
Hope he does to 'health care' what he did to Hillary's presidential candidacy ;-)
Bill Clinton’s foray into the Federal Insurance debate will serve to highlight whether MENTAL ILLNESS should be a covered condition.
I don’t believe the issue of psychological counseling or institutional care for mental disorders has ever been mentioned by the MSM or by the deepsheets in Congress.
Hmmmmmmmm ...interesting.
Clinton isn’t stupid. He could sell ice to an Eskimo.
Does anybody still doubt that clinton runs obama? From start to finish, obama has been putting into place the entire clinton agenda from 1992.
0bama will bring out the big guns; Beelzeflubba will bring out the “Big’uns”!
What this shows is this a pure power grab for the Democrats. It has nothing to do with healthcare.
not so...Bubba hates Obama, and visa versa...Hilda is where she is because Odumbo needs Hilda backers...and he can keep an eye on her.
