I'm rather fond of the Japanese style as well. That way, the perps remain anonymous unless their family chooses to to announce their hangings to the press.

The Ministry of Justice typically will only confirm that an execution has been carried out and will announce only the number(s) and prison location(s). The family knows when they get a notice to come and collect their remains and belongings.

It is not unusual to do multiple executions at multiple locations on the same day so as to further minimize the perp's chances for publicity. There is a certain Oriental mystery surrounding the whole affair.

Personally, however, I prefer the 1890's style Western send-off complete with hymn singing, picnics and a crowd gathered on the courthouse lawn to witness the whole affair. It just strikes me as more Christian and compassionate and would be a dandy way to offend the ACLU and Islamofacist nut-jubs at the same time.

” hymn singing, picnics and a crowd gathered on the courthouse lawn to witness the whole affair”

I remember in England, parents would sometimes bring their kids and force them to watch, to show them what happened if they embraced a life of crime.

“unless their family chooses to to announce their hangings to the press.”

Which I doubt they would since it is considered a source of shame to have criminal in the family.
