I am always amazed at so-called FReepers who will give up their core principles just because they happen to agree with the person who is trying to abuse them. The BushBots were the worst, but the fact that cripplecreek and Mnogamer are attacking you for defending the first amendment is really proof that they either have no idea what they are talking about or are simply Totalitarians coveniently hiding behind the mantle of conservativism. I will assume the former since ignroance has a much higher probability.

The first amendmentment doesn't protect defamation or libelous speech. In other words you can't spread lies about someone with the intent of ruining their reputation and expect the first amendment to protect you. Sorry.
