Conlin is wealthy enough to finance her own campaign. She will also receive plenty of funding from her out-of-state liberal friends. Conlin is the former president of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. This is a group that the entire Democratic Party is beholden too. In fact, former DNC chairman Howard Dean admitted that it was the trial lawyers that are preventing the Democrats from inserting necessary tort reform into the ObamaCare bill.

A sign should be hung....”Lawyers need not apply”
I’ve never understood how Iowns could keep on re-electing BOTH Grassley and Harkin..it makes NO sense
Why are we as a society so enamored with electing Lawyers into public office. When did the brainwashing start that states that a law degree is a absolute requisite for running for office?
“Conlin is the former president of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.”
In a better world, that right there would be good for an old fashiobned hangin’.
I agree but for some reason our people keep picking the same type of people.
>>>Ive never understood how Iowns could keep on re-electing BOTH Grassley and Harkin..it makes NO sense
Harkin pretends to not be the Liberal that he really is when he’s back home, and the squishy middle of the road, splinters in their arse fence sitting moderates in Iowa’s electorate fall for it, and vote for the turd.
I’m sure farm subsidies play a part.
One word: AGRICULTURE. That's the one issue area where they generally agree and usually fail to cancel each other's votes.
Along with the usual ignorant "name recognition" voting bloc and the truly idiotic "checks and balances" voters, I can only guess there must be significant numbers of voters determined to keep the two of them bringing home the ag-related bacon.
If Conlin wins the primary, she’ll be no match for Grassley.
And the Dems sure can’t bitch about Branstad being a retread anymore either.

It used to be, back in the days of the founders, that people who served in congress had REAL jobs and served only a few months out of the year and then returned home to work at their REAL jobs.
This served two purposes. One, it kept them in contact, through most of the year, with the people they represented and they learned what was really needed. Second, it kept politics from becoming a “profession”.
Now we have people who have never worked a REAL job, had to balance a REAL budget, and who have been groomed most of their lives to do one thing, be a politician (i.e. Al Gore). How I long for the days of our founders.
I think she’s already got the primary won, hands down. But this will be the toughest match Grassley has faced in a long time. She’ll have tons of money coming from all over the nation. They will attack Grassley on all fronts. He will need our support.
She’ll be a money black hole. I don’t think you realize what a radioactive candidate Conlin is.
Umm, am I missing something here, or isn’t Grassely HIMSELF an ineffectual liberal RINO type who should be challenged within his own party by a more conservative, younger and frsher face?
One of the problems with the system is career politicians who make a living out of “politicking”.
I would like to see a conservative Republican replace this guy.
You are quite incorrect. Chuck Grassley is a solid Reagan conservative on pretty much every issue.
I think its time for Grassley and Hatch, among others, to move on and make way for new conservatives.
They have been there too long, among MANY others.
