There were widespread rumors that the FBI had collected all the security camera tapes from the Ok City building blast and did not release many of them because they showed a fellow with middle-eastern features getting out of the truck before McVeigh drove to the building.
Makes sense to me on the basis that the administration at the time wanted to suppress any possible connection with bin Laden, et al for fear of increased anti-muslim sentiment — KINDA LIKE NOW, HUH???

And on the morning of the blast, ABC news said that the police were looking for “six dark complected, swarthy men of middle eastern extraction, in blue running suits fleeing the scene.”
No mention ever again of them.
I’m still not convinced that the Oklahoma bombing didn’t have an Islamic connection, but the media could never accept that because they would have to make excuses for Timothy McVeigh, and it would take away the rightwing bugaboo they blamed.
Ruby Ridge and Waco were acts of terrorism, but religious kooks weren’t the terrorists.
The Marxist left defends Islamic terrorists because they share a common enemy.

Lots of great points in this ariticle, but McVeigh saw his act as a form of post-Waco retribution.
An interesting point —after he returned from the Gulf War, in fact he was pretty serious about working for the Bridge Toll Authority in his home state. He got one of the highest scores ever recorded (?) for the position he aimed for, but was not hired. I remember it being alleged that the reason was affirmative action, but I cannot state this with much confidence.
I never read that this figured largely —or at all— in his eventual act of terrorism.
I only mean that if he had found a stable job and had gotten married with kids, I doubt any of this would have happened.
In fairness I also think that if this latest nut had been married with kids that perhaps he would not have committed his great crime, either.
You think that if Hasan had had a wife, he wouldn’t have shot all these people?

The Beltway Sniper Attacks were an Act of Terrorism
The Ft. Hood Shootings was an Act of Terrorism

I figured this out when McVeigh was executed, and his final statement was read. The press reports only reported the statement "I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul." I did not realize it was the final stanza from the poem Invictus. Whether McVeigh provided the whole poem as a statement, or just the last stanza is not readily known. But I noted this was not the statement a religious person would make as a final statement.
The "Timothy McVeigh is a Christian" lie was amplified by Islamic Americans in the post 9/11 period.
