Imagine a time-machine takes us back 70 years:
1. Pearl Harbor has been attacked
2. Japanese people are in the US military
3. They’re being sent to the Pacific Theater, no questions asked
4. When they’re not in uniform, some of them walk around in kimonos and geta, sometimes with swords
5. When they’re dressed up like that, some of them openly say things like, “The US war against Japan is wrong, and it makes be super mad...”
6. Some of them go to the local shrine, and say things like, “That Tojo guy? He’s SWELL...!!!”
All US officers see this and are terrified to ask follow-up questions.

You must be new here. Hugh and series has been a running joke on FR for years. It’s pointing fun at the pathetic spelling brought about by the rotten public school system in the USA.
Oh, I forgot:
Some of these hypothetical WW2 soldiers go onto official US Army newspapers with letters that say things like, “If a kamikaze takes out 100 or so marines, then that is a tactical victory.....”
Other US officers see these words and say nothing.
TOTALLY RIDICULOUS.
One would expect the Washington Times to take this position. It is a conservative newspaper, and, IMHO, the best newspaper in the US.
It would be pudent, I think, to have a personal weapon handy at all times.
Just in case, of course.
