A popular saying among those who considered themselves part of the '60s counterculture went something like, "Never trust anyone over 30." In that context, it's interesting that quite a few of that era's iconic figures celebrated the applicable birthday before the calendar turned to 1970.
One of them was Grace Slick, who rose to fame singing two hit singles by the San Francisco band Jefferson Airplane, "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit." She turned 30 on Oct. 30, 1969, which of course makes her 70 today

Well, that makes me feel old.
Okay, this story is actually from a week ago, and I’m sorry I missed it then.
I always liked Jefferson Airplane.
My first thought exactly. I remember a minor riot at Penn State when Jefferson Airplane came to play Rec Hall in Spring of 1971.
well, she kind of looks the same...
Thanks Grace for not touring on the oldies circuit.
(I'm thinkin White Rabbit must be where Obummer got his red pill, blue pill crapola.)
Jefferson Airplane was great. Jefferson Starship was pretty good. But I’m not sure I will ever be able to forgive Grace and the boys for the mid-80’s incarnation known only as Starship.
WE BUILT THIS CITY ON (crappy soulless corporate) ROCK AND ROLLLLLLL!
I hate that song with the passion of ten thousand burning suns!
Er, happy b-day anyway, Grace. :-)
I loved Gracie then and now. She looks great non-surgically altered!
I read her autobiography. She’s a nasty, leftist skank.
That woman was so damned beautiful! And she’s aging well, too!
One that makes me feel even older...Brian Johnson of AC/DC is 62.
LOL I hate that song and band with a passion, too. Well, I hope Grace and company had fun and made lots of money with that... not much to do with music imo. :)
Grace is good. She has gained a lot of weight and let her hair go natural, but her beauty still shines through. Most folks don’t know Grace has been dying her hair since she went gray in her early twenties.
