With Pomeroy’s comm stances with the Democratic fold, including his support for the AWB, and having been seated face to face with the man while he snipped “You don’t need an AK 47 to go deer hunting”, I’m not one to consider him a Blue Dog Democrat. He votes the votes he needs to survive: pro-senior stuff, pro-farmer subsidy, and pork for the cities. Guaranteed reelection in the past, but he’ll be looking less lovely in the future...
Keep in mind that "Blue Dog" just means they sit with the Blue Dog Caucus, generally fiscally cautious. Comparatively speaking.
It doesn't mean they're conservative on a range of issues. But it does mean they're more more persuadable on Big Ticket items than, say, Bawney Fwank.
And they come from more-conservative Districts, which means they have to at least keep warm on what the constituents back home are hot about.
A number of Blue Dogs have declared against the HealthScam, including Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (SD) and Frank Kratovil (MD-01). The vote could go either way by +1 or -1.
So we have to push hard, never weary, keep on pushing.
