Yeah, Shep Smith made me want to puke last night. First he floated the “post traumatic stress disorder” scenario, and then took pains to even mention the guys name knowing it was muslim.

MSNBC early on, was promoting the idea of PTS. I thought, why are they JUMPING to that conclusion so early in this tragedy? Over & over they talked about it and with guests also. It was shameful.

WRT Shep, i have to stand up for him on a couple points. I think the reason that Fox was last to name the guy was because should the name turn out to be wrong the WH would be all over them as not being a true news organization.

Secondly, maybe the Fox people on site at Ft. Hood were already detecting that a lot of what they were being told wasn’t true and thus they didn’t want to take a chance on screwing up the name.

Third, it was a Muslim name so screwing up the spelling or pronunciation or order of the three names are ways that should Fox err, again they’d be called on it by the WH.

And finally, Shep did hint that the guy was Muslim. He said to whomever he was talking “i won’t say his name. but the name itself should tell us something. Don’t you think?” That was a pretty bold statement imo.

I’m not a big Fox watcher, nor a big Shep fan, but i think he’s being beaten up over this unfairly.
